I play it pretty close to the line, so they'll ban me sooner or later. I play the anti-drug dealer sponsored line pretty close. As someone with heart disease, who smoked for over 30 years, I'm going to call those Subaru (and anyone else) bastards for selling that "energy drink" garbage what they are: Drug dealers!!! They sell death! I don't know if you saw it, but recently one of the front runners started a thread about prostrate cancer. What a joke. He sells cardiac arrest on his car and his driving suit, but in the same breath tries to sell himself as a anti-cancer philanthropist. It is past disgusting! Edit: Sorry Merrilee for taking this off on a tangent, but afterall it is called "Rally Anarchy" not "Rally Conformist". Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/06/2008 03:51PM by Jens. |

Yeah but Jens, at least he 'cancels out' his energy drink badness with the goodness of his prostate cancer fundraiser.
Then again, I believe you put on the Idaho rally. I'd say that cancels your constant assault on the energy drinks. There, your .... equal! Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

That's no fucking excuse for advertising drugs to kids. Consider the contradictions of any pleas for charitable contributions that might have ever been made by Marlboro Ferrari, Marlboro McLaren, 555 Subaru, JPS Lotus, Winston Cup, and so many others that have carried death advertising on their cars for many decades. Oh, my bad. I didnt know there were two Jens.
Im not trying to argue, I was trying to make a joke. Apparently its lost on your vigilante mind. Whether is wrong or right, the fundraiser is definitely right. And perhaps by all the "drug" advertising more people will pay attention to HIS fundraiser and donate, instead of just ignoring the boy scouts (or whoever) pleas for help. For those keeping score, that would be a GOOD thing. +1 to the GOOD side of his actions. Speaking of which, why is he "the front runner?" Is it really so bad to say..... Ken block??!!??! Sure, you shouldnt be advertising drugs to kids (notice I havent said they're not drugs) but 14 yr old girls also shouldnt be having births or abortions. Are you going to tell the media to stop selling sex? Take a look at this thread... good luck stopping that. What about all the kids who go home depressed because they dont "look hot?" Same thing. Are you gonna tell the media to stop portraying paper thin models? Thing is, lots of people CAN and DO choose not to give in, or to consume moderately and have no side effects. Lots of kids have sex and dont have to figure out what to do with the kid inside them, lots of people dont care that the latest models are 5' 8" and weight 75 pounds. People can choose. It's really up to them. It comes down to thinking something is cool because its on a rally car!!!!11111!!! or because they think it is. I really dont care what you have to say in return to this. I hope you read it and at least get a sense that not everything in the world is black and white, all bad and all good. I'm fairly certain you realize this though. Why you hate energy drinks so much is YOUR choice. You certainly haven't given in. I'll leave with a question, I want to go mountain biking before it gets dark. If Tom Burress or Adam Crane, Or Cody Crane or Kris Dahl or You, or JVL or Lurch or ANY 2wd guy or ANY small time awd guy got offered a sponsorship from ANY energy drink company, would you still hate them just as much and would your attitude toward the driver/codriver change? Last edit at Nov 6, 2008 by Jens. apology not accepted, I prefer to implement a punishment instead when and if I ever meet you in person, prepare for a good old fashioned spanking see, I can whip (he he whip) anything back into it's proper sexually related place however, I have been occasionally guilty of buying an energy drink for myself and my goddaughter, but I don't think one here and there is all that bad, I don't see how people can drink them every day though, my brothers do that, but then, I don't drink caffiene much either, about once or twice a month (usually an energy drink, ha) but I smoke that way as well, one here and there, could be one cigarette a month, could be one a day for a month |

I sort of agree with both of you. On one hand, parents need to raise their children to not be easy prey for peer pressure, which I consider to be complete bullshit. It's nothing more than an excuse to blame someone else for something you want to do. However, I also know that many of today's parents suck. And what about the old concept of it taking a village to raise a child. Well, with the internet and media and so forth, the plain old village concept really doesn't apply quite so easily anymore, so it's sort of up to all of us to try and lead and teach kids who don't have that type of support coming from their homes. |

Don't call prostate cancer fund raising good. There are millions of way more important causes out there. I don't disagree with prostate cancer treatment, I disagree with screening for it, based upon clinical trial results and the medical literature.
I'm not going off on it again though. I kind of wonder what his interest is in prostate cancer. Family or something maybe. Kind of like that year when I walked during the breast cancer thing for over 10 hours while my grandma sat dying from breast cancer. No more though, I don't support Susan G Komen anymore. Spending a few hundred million on a clinical trial to find out that in a very select, proportionally small population of women, digital mammography is better than film, resulting in hospitals and clinics rushing out to spend $45K per machine so they can maybe detect one cancer every few years a few months early just seems like a waste. Not to mention their deceptive statistics used all over. 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. What they leave out of that statement is the beginning. Of women that live to at least 70 years of age, 1 in 7 will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Energy drinks probably are fine in moderation. Unfortunately, our generation doesn't believe in moderation. It's kind of funny though how I limit my intake of them to maybe 1-2 red bulls per week, I adamantly refuse to drink milk because it's unhealthy and disgusting, yet I smoke a pack a day and my idea of not drinking last night is to drink less than 8 beers. I don't remember the last evening I didn't drink at least one. Maybe tonight, though I do have some wine left so I'm sure I'll drink that. PS> Fuck religion. Grant Hughes |

I honestly hope you find a way/desire to quit smoking as a young man. Good luck to you! November 8th I will celebrate 2 years cigarette free. Jens Larsen Flying Kiwi Racing |

this thread is great!
I now think Grant is more jaded than Jens, he just doesn't voice it as much. but now I'm all curious to chuck 3 or 4 energy drinks with a big glass of milk and vodka just to see how I'd react to it. HA Jon Burke - KI6LSW Blog: http://psgrallywrx.blogspot.com/ |
