hello again (with /another/ video)
October 27, 2011 11:35PM
updates -

going to school at TX State Technical College - Waco.

Found some nice roads behind the school, decided to give them a run. Running on Riken Raptor POS tires (I got new for $180 for all 4 lol) and still autofagic. (no offense to anyone). Conditions were real loose because of wind and tires. Calculated avg speed = 53mph. (6.1 miles in 6.85 minutes) Other details in video or description.

Let me know what you think! Open to constructive critique.

Didn't look like a closed course to me...
Did you have a chase car or a game plan if something bad happened?
Those roads suck big time, kind of like Pomeroy in places.

Driving, you're a bit slow going into the corners and a bit wide/waggy coming out. Not scarey tho but I wish you had better roads to develope your skills on. BUT without a cage and equipment you were goingabout as fast as is prudent. I think you'll have fun with the real item.

A rally 240SX huh, that sounds like a dumb idea.

Finnish Fury Rallysport

Finnish Fury Rallysport on the book of faces.

Feel free to contact me as you progress through your build, I learned a lot whilst putting my car together, and there are a few things I will do differently on round 2. Whenever that may be.

You are starting in a lot better position then I did. My car is still hopelessly underpowered (like less then 100 hourspower) and the S13 rear suspension geometry isn't quite as good for traction. Good luck.

Seppanenen poiki, I just back from Mt Hood Rally kau-draiving in Alperti Kunkanenen's 240, ya know the NORDIC 240....
Listen Alperti has some junkyard B230, the crappiest years. (2340cc)
Onliest thing done in the motor--with maybe 1,000,000 miles on it---was mill head 1.6mm or so, a "K" cam (some Volvo OEM emissions cam), some cheesy headers. That's it in the motor.

BUT! He has a Borg Warner T5 with 2.95 first gear gearset, and a cheap 4.88 ring and pinion--Kemppi diff and that made everything all better-er.

And he had some green struts which seemed to work amazingly well and were even comfy on stages..
I am confused they worked so good..

Compression , camshaft, and you have 2400cc, get some gearing and final drive.

We should talk. I think there's a phone number below.. Martin Walter has pounded on his Tempura based 240 for a number of years, and he does some good oveerall results, we should get into some details with him and like post piccies...

It was "closed". These roads kind of remind me of the Rallye de Paris which I volunteered at last Spring and will do next year. I'll have to admit this is my DD for now, that's why I'm taking it easy. About a week back I almost spun at 95mph...yeah I don't want to think about that.

Haha I've heard that one sooooo so so many times!! I just "Liked" y'all on Fbook. So what engine are you running? It will be awhile before I start any kind of build (as I am on my first semester of auto tech) but I will definitely be here to learn and open to hear things.

Thanks.

The motor currently in the car is a very tired SOHC KA. The broken odo on the car it came out of read 140,000 miles. It has lived its life to the fullest, the rebuild of its replacement should begin this weekend.

autotragic is a better term...

There is an australian 240sx team coming up to compete this year in RA. The article is on RA, and I'm sure its on SS as well.

heck ya! Thats also my goal but the cams I have...idk about. I have some BC stage 2 cams but...ive heard mixed things from them. I was lucky enough to come by some 4.60 gears that fit the R200. I'm really excited about those. You should look for some around there.

I just want to do 248/248 swap to retain low end torque. I dont want to narrow my power band too much.

Where did you the 4.6 gears? I have looked a bunch but found nothing promising. I really need shorter gearing. A gear limited top speed of 170 mph is absolutely useless. I cant even top out 4th gear.

is the 248/248 the stock twin exhaust cams from an s13 right? I heard it wasn't worth it but maybe that was without degree-ing them or something. But one thing for sure is that it's a cheap way to go. I wonder if they make any aftermarket production cams for the KA's low end....

the 4.6 gears were traded off of a friend for a holset hx35 off of a 8.9L cng Cummins lol. Anyways they came out of the Nissan Largo...it's JDM so that's why they are basically unheard of. I've been offered upwards of $500 for them but they are near priceless to me. Funny, I've never been about all the JDM tyteness yet one of my prized-iest possessions is straight JDM. With a 5spd the gearing is 131mph.
