Bizarre US Rally Video...
December 13, 2007 05:40PM

LSPR

Just stumbled onto this one today. Don't spread this around, but it looks like there are more than a couple spectators at this one corner. I started watching it and then I noticed all the people. I was looking more to see how many people there were than at the cars passing.

Struck me as being out of the ordinary, but then again, I'm a couple thousand miles from that event. Maybe things are different where the weather gets cold...

Uhh. Probably a spectator point. Notice the vests?

That was indeed the first spectator point on the first stage of lspr this year. It was a short stage, like 2.5 or so miles, half of it was rough with lots of big mine rocks. But it was one that I lobbied the organizers for because its about 1 mile from parc expose, so its also 1 mile outside of town. Plus it has lots of parking space and lots of viewing space, as you can see. That was a friday afternoon when people have work/class and still all those people showed up! Just think how many would have been there had it been on the weekend! I hope they're going to use it again next year. I know of another road thats close to town too that I'm going to investigate this spring to see if it would be suitable. I went down it about a month ago and it was crazy fun, lots of crests and tight stuff.

There was excellent rally exposure at LSPR, crowds were big day and night....made for a good show, I know whenever I see a crowd common sense goes out the window and the skinny pedal goes to the floor...

The air horns would make a lot more sense before the car gets to the corner, maybe to warn people of an oncoming car?-that's usually the point, rather than WHILE a car is coming through the corner and killing the sound of the action (half of the experience is the sound in my opinion). Not surprising considering the region. Cool to see a gathering of enthusiastic spectators though! The hypen$tein brothers sure have drawn a lot of interest.

Ah. I thought it was odd that there would be so many corner marshals.

Just making a feeble attempt at sarcasm with regards to generating increased awareness/interest in the sport and spectatorship.

I personally took a wheelbarrow full of football sized rocks and layed them out along the first stage.
