Whoa . Made the mistake of asking on some random Face-tube jerk off page if anybody knew about what happened to a few friends at this years Doo Wops..I asked if anybody know what happened with Carl Jardevall, Sean Medcroft and Garth in the Starlet.
Had one guy who I know is always snarky and flippant---he's a co-driver and the generation that they have to pose as worldly and ironic in their every statement who said They DNFed... Well duh.. Well derpity derp...I asked anybody else since that was no news.. Then that place became a version of washer-women gone bad...asking was "don't be a prick"..and downward it went..wot da fuq? 2 questions: 1) anybody have any news of Medcroft, Jardevall and Ankeny. 2) is it a requirement for co-drivers and peripheral hangers-on that they be whiny ass pussies and bitchie-bois ? Is there some inverse relationship between their uselessness as people in "the real world" and their snarkiness and "hipness" in the rally-world and "on-line"? Is a weak personality a requirement to have licence such that any question asked is always perceived as an existential threat? I believe Carl's DNF was due to a diff failure.
The corner Garth rolled on was very deceptive. It was a slight right into a tight right over a crest that tightened just after the crest. He got pushed wide, tapped the outside bank with the rear, got spun around sideways to the road and had a 3/4 roll. Starlet will need some new panels, but it's pretty good shape. Garth and Russ are all good too. |

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm diff failure. Axle failure
Maybe the talk of the easy-to-swap-in Toyota 8" isn't so dumb after all. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Pacific Standard Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time. |

Just noticed at the bottom left corner of this page it says "volvo cup". Im guessing this is a joke but if it isn't could someone elaborate? Regardless the strong volvo showing is awesome. Though I may be slightly biased. Oh John, Robert was asking me about the toyota axle I used on mine a while ago so I suspect it's in the cards for them. That being said I am a little surprised on the broken axle. I figured "they" swap them into other things in euro land for a reason. Not to mention most volvos on the other side of the pond retain the volvo axle. Perhaps most are running aftermarket axles? Anyway I must say this event strikes me as a lot of fun. If I can get a job after school I may have to properly try and budget for this event! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/26/2016 12:19AM by Eric Ewert. |
The Toyota axle is in the plans, and had been for a while. Mostly as a way to get a decent LSD. The Volvo axle is way lighter though, and this is the only issue in 15ish rallies.
The axle broke when it was loaded pretty heavy coming out of a turn. It was a pretty abrupt shift and a loud pop just after the clutch was dropped. Usually when you have a welded diff you try not to make really tight turns on pavement because it stresses the axles, that never happened with this car. (I know, excuses right!) Erik, the Volvo Cup was a series Al and I started talking about after Oly, with a traveling trophy to go to the winner (still working on that). Then Somehow through face-space, Medcroft got enough people to pay into the Volvo Cup so there would be a payout for the top 3 Volvos in the rally. NASA will make a special class for any group with 5 or more cars in it, so that's how the NASA thing came about... and because Anders and Kris are awesome (and Christine too!) Edited 1 time(s). Here's another way to look at the results with squiggly lines. NOT recommended on a smart phone! There's also links to the DNFs and Penalties. http://nasarallysport.com/results/2016-Doo-Wop-Rally-index.htm Also, who the heck is Tyler Hendricks?!?! I think he was in a mk2 golf. He was picking up speed like crazy throughout the event! |

There's a nice piccie
And so evidently its better that the car sit there and rot, maybe get peened than these people: Give it a shove, he continues and the rest get to not smack into them? Or did it not occur to those people? Wot da fuq? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Have you seen what Al looked like just after that picture was taken?!?!
I assume you're talking about the BRZ? They had no clutch and couldn't get it into reverse or something, so there it sat... in a not so awesome spot. The marshals are really against anyone going onto a hot stage, for whatever reason. I want more spectator interaction! |
