I've seen that.
I have a large format cnc plasma machine that I built long ago. I have often considered a sheet metal chassis for a car project like they did, kinda cool to see it done.
I used to plasma cut and design things for hire, and made some similar slot/tab structures for non auto uses. They work out well.
If it weren't for the firewall and floor rules in rally, I'd have gone mid engine like they did and created a sheet subframe.
