Now THIS is a service truck!

In the true spirit of Dakar, here are a few pix of one of the service trucks at Sandblast for one of the Dakar bike teams...... amazing! There is a roll cage in this thing!

The sad thing is that it could probably pull better stage times than some of the 2wd field at sandblast including me.

The locals always say that. True story, at the 1986 Olympus WRC (after JV's tranny broke) I was out spectating on a stage. Markku Alen goes by in his Lancia Delta S4 at maaksuumum attack. Juha Kankunnen goes by in his Peugeot 206 T16. Drunken local next to me says, "Hell, I drive to work down this road every day in my Ford Courier pickup faster than that!"

Yeah, right.

Alleged true story from the Monte Carlo rally:

In the days before the roads were hermetically sealed, a team was hurrying up a mountain road to one of the passes. Headlights come up behind them and try as they could, the rally team could not go faster. So they let the car pass. But there were four people in the car and they were all wearing white jackets. The car steadily pulled away. When the rally team got to the restaurant at the top of the pass, the car was parked there and the four guys were just walking into the employees entrance. The co-driver jumped out and ran up to find out who these guys were. They were waiters and had been watching the rally go by when they realized they were late for work.
