I hate to say it but JVL is correct it came from British military jargon. Must have been something that one could say after burning ones tongue from sipping hot tea while setting on the lou during gerry's bombardment... "Go have a recce and see if it's safe to hunt budgie's!"

As always IMHO

well, colocate (or co-locate, depending on your affinity for hyphenation) becomes colo, but I dunno what collocate is, maybe something to do with your large intestine? I wish you well, have some prune juice.

Because it's fun to see how much you can make another person work to figure out what you're saying?

I no longer see recce as a strange word, knowing what I do about it now. For some reason though, it still brings to mind the image of a big forehead and boobs, in that order...

No no no that's RICCI not recce!

And dammit, now I am going to be thinking that too.

Shit, as if that's something. Big boobs is any word brings to my mind, be it Recce, Ricci, Rocco, Rocky.

Does that make me a perv ?

When I was growing up in the mountains of Turkey, we didn't know RECCE, we knew "Let's go practice some stages", we called it "Antreman" derrived from the French word "Entrainement". Not for a specific rally, not a specific stage, we knew what stages in the forrest would potentially be used at the next event, hell there were only 35 or so stages that would make about 75 stages based on different junctions used, so we'd go in the middle of the night, rain, snow, dry, shine whatever, and run them all night long for the sake of learning the corners and getting faster and faster and faster till we roll or damage the car.

And yes the stages were uphill both ways and we only had one gravel tire.
