I've noticed the technical content has gotten REALLY LAME since JVL's been gone. Now it's all the e-experts spouting the same old nonsense with no clear head to interject. Sad really that newcomers to the sport will read and believe this crap as the TRUTH.
On the upside, I believe there is a revolution going on, driven mostly by John and a small group that will see rally continue for the average funded guy. So fuck SS there's more than enough good stuff right here. Gone fishing |

Just the usual Rally America NWO cheerleading, back patting, and brown nosing. I rarely check anything except off-topic there anymore. Even that forum is going in the crapper with a bunch of unquoted links to fascist, popup ridden websites. |

Someone used the term "fanboy site". Pretty much sums up what's wrong with a lot of websites. Nasioc comes to mind as an example. SS.com is getting a lot more like that. They become experts, by increasing their post count. Very few of them can actually change a tire or do an oil change without posting for help. What they excel at is reading some BS online, taking it as truth and then telling everyone else all about it online for years to come.
Real people with real experience doing something are driven away from those websites by the idiots. Then again at least I don't have to buy a hans device to drive a rally car online. ;-) But a real cool guy would buy one anyhow. Ted the "fanboy" thing was probably me.
Ya know there's sumpin definately going on and I really don't know if its a changing of the guard, or a decision on the owners at .com to decide to start making money off the site, or they decided to embrace foully the whole corporate Promo is our saviour thing, but sure seems that inters is rapidly waning over there. And look at poor Rallyboy's "new" forum: last post weeks ago. Personally, I'm worried that the dreaded total dominance of Corporate values may be being felt wider, cause as we all know many people see the semis and little knots of people acting like they want to suck the dicks of anybody wearing a SubieUSA overall as sorta off putting. Could be everybody's just working on their cars, it IS spring after all. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Rant:
I'm so fed up with corporate branding and product identities, sometimes I think I'd like to abandon society and go live in a cave at the top of the highest mountain I can find. Corporations are stabbing at the very heart of our entire society, everywhere you look they are infiltrating public recreation and adding their names/logos to things like statiums, festivals, fitness centers, movie theaters etc.. A guy can barely go for a walk in the sun without someone trying to feed him the company line and generate corporate awareness and consumer loyatly. I'm dying inside. |

I blame Colin Chapman. putting Gold Leaf cigarette sponsorship on the side of his racecars led us to the Hardees/Tacobell/Trampax/valvosheen goodbeer tires Chevroyota charger ran really well today! I'd like to thank my mom, god, & my cousin's best friends hairdressers sometimes boyfriend/mechanic for the totally awesome care today.!!

So some things which seem "High end" if we assume we can't constant rebuild the whole stinkin car after every 200 miles of stages, turn out to be much cheaper in the long run especially in this day of $1200 entries and for poor bastids like all you poor guys in the Bay area who have to tow so far. That's why I stress strong, even if custom, suspension arms and subframes and basic shit like a continuing, progressive stitch weld campaign, and why I'm seriously considering building Sub-a-rat rear diff mount/subframes cause those things bend too easily, and I feel the pain when guys bend shit and have to DNF. we can't do much for you Subie guys about weak cranks and rods and pistons without spending MONEY, but some things we can spend time and make it better. > > > Jon Burke - KI6LSW > RallyX Team Up TwoMountains > Team Blog: > > Sponsors: > www.grimmspeed.com | www.finelineimports.net > www.finelineimports.com | > www.landefabrications.com > www.sfmetromotors.com | www.cobbtuning.com > | www.redlineoil.com John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! I'm sure you'll have a list of local seattle people signing up for that, but feel free to include me if you want a guinea pig for a prototype. Jon Burke - KI6LSW Blog: http://psgrallywrx.blogspot.com/ |
