Track day at NHMS 5/26

Track day at NHMS. SCCA is doing a PDX (track day) May 26 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Entry fee is $200. You should get 4 20-25 minute sessions on the road course.

I am trying to get the word out because this event has seen a small turnout the last few years. I like running it and want to see them continue to do it.

It's a fun 1.7 mile road course with lot's of elevation changes and a few interesting pavement transitions.

You'll need to steal/rent a car, borrow a snell approved helmet, fill out a tech sheet and bleed yer brakes. No competition license required. Stock belts ok.

If you are "inexperienced", SCCA will provide an instructor who will scream useless things at you, almost like a real codriver.

I'll be there in a pityfull grey ricey-sub-a-rat.

I really should get my black XR4 put together, but it ain't gonna happen for that track day unless I steal a suitcase full of cash from the SRT USA and hire me some child care.

Maybe I'll get it back on the road for Baie, if I'm not towing the Silver Dragon there with the Econoline. I need to start knocking out items on the punch list instead of adding them.

Maybe I can borrow Brett's Thunderchicken Turbo Sloop.

I could use a tire warmer, as long as you promise to take the low line into turn one.

Heck, it could even be fun tossing around a snail-free legacy wagon. i have r tires that will fit.

Not with the struts and ball joints on my wagon. They're not awful, but they're not great.

Codrive Blunt Force Trauma!
She's got six gears, uses 'em all, got a turbo, just won't stall.
Sub-a-rat ball joints are good for 300k miles!
Stop it with the excuses!

I'm not co-driving anything I can't afford the buyout on.

They take SA95 helmets? M95 DOT used sled helmet? Old Stilos with some British or FIA sticker?

Problem is when I stop to think, I think to stop.

Since the 26th is a holiday, Brett's considering bringing the Chicken! But he only wants to run the oval. smiling smiley

He could probably get a few laps in. The back straight is gonna be a little tight. He might want to unplug his intercom. If he is serious, I have docs.

Stop thinking and start driving! Codrive the Thundah-Chicken, if you don't think you can handle wadding up a Sub-a-rat. Then again JV might pay you to destroy a Sub-a-rat. Buy-out on the TC can't be over $1200, and that's if it burns to the ground.

Online entry still seems to be "pending".
I have entry, rules and supps docs that I can forward to folks who are serious about mailing in an entry.

If I had the money laying around I would totally enter my Saab 96, but you know how it goes.

Graham, that your 240D parked at Robbins this morning about 945?

I didn't get in there until 1130, had to get some POR 15 for some rusty bits on the black XR4, which Ted wants to paint a jolly roger on the hood and have me enter for the track day. Unfortunately, it needs about a zillion hours of work before it can go on the track. My Legacy needs slightly less work, but it's mostly front end stuff (and some Porterfield brake pads to replace the crap Robbins sold me last year...to them "premium" must mean no dust, I want them to actually slow the car down).

WOW I'm back in the country one day and you see me at Robbins! Makes my life seem a bit sad.

If your going to be getting a bunch of stuff there I'll go with and you can use my account. I get around 50% off there.

They have a million different pads, you have to specify the type you want. I usually just get whats on the shelf for daily driver stuff.

It's hard for you to go stealth when your vehicles are a 28 year old Mercedes, a Merkur XR4ti and a Saab 96.
