JVAB or others wheel stud question
May 21, 2008 12:01PM
What size and pitch are the VW wheel studs that JV likes for the xr4ti. I need to buy lug nuts ASAP.

Matt, I don't have your current address but I do have approximately 275 of those nuts on the shelf, so shoot me an address and Ill send youse a stack.

They are M14 x 1.5,. VW bus uses a 19mm hex witha slightly rounded seat---works on conical, just cheack anmd retorque for a while, GM trucks use M14 x 1.5 witha big fawking 7/8ths hex which has a conical seat but the hex size CAN and HAS caused problems in wheels with inset or counterbored holes for the studs.
I use the VW ones.

Thanks John but I have plenty of the nice porsche style conical lug nuts. What I need are flat lugnuts to go with the wheels I am using for Rally Tennessee.

These wheels have a flat mating surface to the lug nut so can I just use a standard m14 nut?

Usually those with flat surface have a shoulder which fits the hole and locate that way, I'd get a conical countersink and cut them for conical so you don't need what is really an old style of nut which is hard to find.
I really don't know of a M14 x 1.5 shouldered style nut; seems the US and Japan favored that style.

Of course that makes sense. I think I have a proper countersink already. Gotta love parts that bolt right up.

Some random speedline wheel I picked up a few years ago. Potentially these were originally an audi application. Tires are the Hankook ventus rs2 I will post a picture as soon as I get home.
