Yah right.

Call me stupid for spending $400 on a SnapON impact gun if you want but the damn thing just won't give up, first of, it doesn't sit in the rally car when it's not rally time, it sits in the garage, I ziptied a big leather drill holster to the roll cage for it. I bought it almost 3 years ago, still no problems and it also gets used in the garage for other cars.

I've got a small steel hydraulic jack in the Saab. It's pretty compact, comes in in it's own plastic box that also holds the lug wrench...straps in easily.

It's about the same weight but more compact than the aluminum HF jack that I've got in the truck.

I have the standard scissor jack mounted on an aluminum plate with a 19mm nut welded onto the shaft which matches the lug nuts. Jack is some honda dealie.

I use the std scissor jack, but it's a pain. I got caught out by a dead impact gun at tall pines... winding that sucker 1/2 a trun at a time on a stage really sucked. I now carray a ratchet as well. Time to upgrade to an old VW jack :-)

Yeah Martin I just love some of the photos I have of mid 90s WRC escort Cossie works cars and there sitting there is the ol VW Bilstein jack.

Or the beautiful GpB Celica restoration and bam right there is the ol VW Bilstein jack.

THAT should answer the question when you know they're spending piles of dough to try and win at the highest level.

What about these... Bilstein jack, but uses a worm gear. Better off with the other style that 'slides' up and down the pipe?

I use the OE Volvo 240 jack.
I also use a T-Bar with the sizes of sockets I have for front and rear.

I've never had a Jack failure on a stage. My jack gets replaced every few seasons as a matter of GP. Free at the local junkyards. Tough to beat for a price.

Rallytires that are mounted up with 'Forklift bead sealer' have been MUCH less inclined to end up debeaded on stage. It does also help if you are not such a savage and avoid bashing into things.

Good suspension has helped plenty with keeping me from bashing into things.

I bought one of those too. i had buyers remorse at first, but i think i would pay double for it now. 5+ years as my only impact gun. it has NEVER let me down. its remarkably strong and the battery lasts a long time and is very quick to charge.

Problem with those is that you can't slide it up to meet the height of the car--have to jack up the air for a bit. And it would be harder to extend.

I am taking another look at my old porsche/vw bilstein jack that I got way back and see if it can't be modified to be a good rally jack.

The Bilstein jack I bought off E-Bay showed up. All I need to do is turn a longer shaft on the lathe and it will be rally ready. I thought $37 was a bit steep but there was someone who really wanted it also.

Turn an extend the shaft, make the extention plug in, weld it , then turn the whole thing, easy.
