noobie question
November 13, 2008 09:53PM
ok, so I just got an email that sez that there is going to be a RallyMoto championship in Nevada/California/Arizona.

Which is super cool....

But, I have a question. It's being set up like this:

North Nevada Rally (one coefficient 3 event)
Idaho Rally (one coefficient 2 event and one coefficient 3 event)
Gorman Rally (one coefficient 3 event)
Prescott Rally (one coefficient 2 event and one coefficient 3 event)

So, what does "Coefficient" mean in relations to the events?

Cheers,

Luca

Tradionally it meant that becuz the event was longer, it was presumably tougher to do and so you'r multiply your points you get by the event co-eff.
So say you got (I have no idea how points are awarded anylonger---used to be in what IU did 15 pts for first; 12 pts for second; 10 for 3rd on down)
10 pts in a widdle bitsy Coeff1 event, OK multiply 10 x 1=10pts

The you get first in a Coeff 3 event 15 x 3= 45 pts

and finally you get 10th in a Coeff 2 events cause you fell on your head, thats 1 x 2= 2 pts
57 pts total

Then your buddy gets 57pts spread over 5 events.
You win.
More points (win in a Coeff3 event).

Comprende?

got it. given my placing at the Mt Hood rally (2nd to dfl on every stage) I don't think the points will be much of a concern anytime soon.

Thanks!!!

Dude, it's really simple: FULLGAS.
Use the front brake!!!!
Corner then FULLGAS.

(Ex KTM dude here, made a good living on them--a bit smaller than yours.)

I'm working on it, man!!! I've not been riding off-road for that long, and most of it was plodding along on FS roads on an overloaded GS...So the whole WFO thing is new to me....but it's fun!!!!

Ok trust me. The key thing is do all the exciting shit with the bike square to the ground.
Practice simple full gas thru the gears. PRACTICE full throttle shift using clutch
PRACTICE STRAIGHT HARD braking. With the bike squre to the surface you can gas it till it wheelies, and brake till it does stoppies, but add a bit of steering or leaning and you can't.

PRACTICE looking for best grip. And scan the whole road. USE the whole road.
USE THE CROWN of the road, look for the WAAAAY inside line, the edge of the ditch, whatever is banked.
Your thing is heavy but it has good brakes, the front is the most critical thing on the bike.
Work on you hard full throttle shifts and then you'll see why i say the front brake is the key to happiness.

Hey Luca,

If you have CRS specific questions a good place to go to (including here) is:

http://www.specialstage.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23

That's considered the unofficial "official" CRS forum.

See you at the events!
