What about a hands free cell phone camera?

JVL, I'm gonna start a video blog and post it here just for you. Loads of drivel winking smiley (refer to beginning of second page for Johns comment)

(maybe JVL will sponsor me for it)

OK I'll sponsor your Vlog of the whole year long comeback with head mounted cam, if you sponsor my vlog of the whole year comeback with head mounted cam.....

Van Bogart already added some documentary footage of my year over on that other thread about minor delays...betcha yours won't have any action footage as exciting!!!! Neener!!

So I guess a cool video like this is going to be next on the "No Fucking Way" list.

LOL, Deal. But you have to use music, instead of commentary. If we can't here the notes being read, we shouldn't have to hear the commentary.

Wonder if RA has any of the same concerns about co-driver headlamps?

Yeah the helmet cam is a crappy place/angle/too shaky but it's nice to have options if you are trying to get clips for a video. My Hood rollover was helmet cam filmed and the gopro mount didn't come off my helmet.

A quick search will show that many paracutists have survived chutes not opening....so by most logic and stories parachutes aren't really needed??

Sigh. Really?

What about death from boom mikes if we're really talking about banning things on helmets?

More people die per year (confirmed) falling out of bed than a single proven instance of even an *injury* coming from a camera mounted on a helmet.

Well Eric, since the rule doesn't really affect you, what do you possibly care? Celebrate the fact that a NRS only competitor can run by himself with a helmet cam, or two cams if running conventional or twelve I suppose and get on with your life.

Stories of surviving boinking a cops wife then jumping out of a 6 story apartment window and getting away just don't have a lot of relevance. You don't get that. IF a probelm is precieved, responsible people work to prevent injury or death to others before it happens, not before the next one happens. Safety rules have always been a bit selective in race, you should know that. NRS does it as well.

There is a large difference between a boom mike being on the bottom of a helmet and all the possibilties for mounting cameras on the top or sides of a helmet. Why did NRS require FIA seats and resist the HNR rule until the bitter end? Why require double layer firesuits and not face gear, gloves, proper shoes or fire systems? Or allow run whatcha brung role cages? Why allow fiberglas bodied cars but prohibit them from making a steel door or roof? Why disallow sequential gearboxes in Open class? Why have a bazillion different car classes? Why tell a child to not play with matches when you can tell the next kid 'Hey look at that scarred up little shit over there" ?

I remember when seat belts were mandated by the DOT back in 1964 or so. My dad and many others were convinced they were a bad thing and you could get trapped in the car and die a horrible death. Big uproar over motorcycle helmets when they were mandated. Big roar when MC helmets were required to be DOT also.

NRS is totally wonderful Eric and obviously taking over the whole country with all the new events...why not just sit back and let RA self destruct with the camera rule??
