Never sold in the US.....I bought this fabulous 1973 MK1 RS2000 in 1976 from the German embassy in Wash DC. Ford made only about 3500 copies. Most were RHD for the UK and a few were LHD for the German market, as is mine. It had about 25,000 kilometers on it when I got it. I autocrossed it for a while then started using it strictly as a show car. When I moved to Oregon I left it with a brother to store in his barn......of course he didn't. It sat outside in the sun, uncovered and unwashed for three years. I towed it home and parked it in my garage until I had the money to bring it back to it's former glory. Ten years and $25,000 later it is better than new!! Ivey Engines, Inc. built me a gem of a motor with headers, dual Webers, cam, pistons & electronic ignition resulting in 150bhp. Add to that are Panasport (Minilites) wheels, Bilstein struts and shocks, Toyo comp tires, Schroth seat belt and all new brakes, bushings, hoses, clamps, bearings.......just about everything. Interior was left alone as it was fine. The seatbelts have caused a couple of punctures that probably should be addressed. It even has the original Blaupunkt multi band radio.

I love this car! I've had it longer than my wife. Our first date was in it. It's a part of me......I'm known, not by my name, rather as the guy with the cool car. But, all things must come to an end. I am 65yo and have Parkinson's disease. It is difficult for me to get in and out of the car and to drive. So, after much deliberation..........it is for sale!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looks nice, but too bad so many people live in fantasy lands..
3500 built he says.. Well Escort RS2000 filled rallies for years and to be eligible for Gp1 or Gp2 the MFG had to make minimum of 5000 cars so that shots the 3500 out of the water, and they were ridiculously popular --and still are--- so Ford made a bunch of them all over (UK, Germany, and Port Elisabeth, South Africa)
Here
http://bbs.rallyesportescorts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=37811
people say from 10,000 to 12,000 to 20,000+
Oh well gotta imagine something is rare I guess (like GTX or Gaylant guys claiming "one of ONLY 1200 EVER BUILT!!!!!!"winking smiley
Who si going to snag this?
Isn't a BDG just a larger displacement BDA?
Keep a firm grip on that-there block: it's light enough, it might just "float away"....
