Yeah, Brockelman was killing it on Saturday afternoon. Mark and I backed off of our stage times after stage 12 once we knew we had G2 locked.

I never considered any event "locked' till the time cards are in the hand of the FINAL ATC people.
Don't know how many times things have happened on the transit back.
Fuel pumps die (not me!--I always have 2)
Run outta oil (well we were missing a valve, too, but it was oil loss that stopped us)
battery dead and draining --bad news after dark and with 2 electric pumps--there went 5th OA at LSPR we thought...Nope made it to the line--but not a foot further

The frequency of "Last Transit" mayhem is why I have suggested that the scores be calculated from the Last SS Finish Control, and the transit back be just whatever..

Good job with the "ol car"....smileys with beer

That's assuming the organizers are going to score the last transit and final MTC...

Dual fuel pumps - check
5 quarts of spare oil - check
Battery.... well two out of three ain't bad. (but I do bring a spare red top in the service truck)

Oh, it's not that our result was locked, but that I wasn't going to keep taking risks to claw back time from Samir for a better overall result. I had already scared myself pretty good by sailing off the road and into a rock-less and stump-less ditch. The rally gods must have been smiling down upon us.

Poor choice of words on my part. I should have wrote "under control".

Racers tend to hoon, this is why transits are scored and have penalties. The last one is no less susceptible to this than the first. winking smiley
