I am reading a book about temptation and self control - very interesting.

Temptation: Finding Self-Control in an Age of Excess

OR

We Have Met the Enemy: Self-Control in an Age of Excess
both by Daniel Akst

In the long run reality always wins.

You could hold in one hand while you're reading that the words of William Blake (28 November 1757 – 12 August 1827) was an English poet, painter and printmaker.

"if a fool persists in his folly long enough he shall become a wise man"

Hey, someone in my town (Reading PA, like the Reading Railroad) by the name of Justin Vanlandingham just had a baby. Never heard the name outside of John. Any relation?

John once had a codriver named Doug Vanlandingham that was no relation to him.

i had a tree all done up with the star wars/trek finery, about an hour later sitting on the couch with a cool refreshing libation i watched the cat one ornament at a time remove each and every last bit of star wars/trek finery giving it a good once over then dropping it to the floor. shortly there after the cat set up residence about halfway up the tree.

a cats head makes a great ornament, and will freak out a drunk party goer when it blinks or yawns
bwahahahahahahaha

none of the cats at my house have done that, and other than the occasional swipe at a low hanging ornament they haven't touched the tree

one of the new roommate's cats does like to use the gate on my room door as a goal post because I keep stepping on the little toy mouse any time I go into my room

the siamese though, he likes to leave the occasional real mouse under my desk, I'm glad I wear slippers around the house instead of going barefoot because I'm sure the screams when I step on them would be much louder if it were my bare foot

Whenever the trolls come out to play, I just think of this bit by probably stolen from Bill Hicks a famous Masshole:

Everybody has their own idea of the best way to rally. JVAB says it's get a Volvo or XR4 and build cheap, others say slap a cage in a new Fiesta, others say raid their trust funds and build a blue Subie. There isn't one correct answer, but shit, damn, can't we all just get along?

Morison and Evo guy in Iowa, stop baiting JV, you know the result. JV, when you see Morison and/or Evo guy in Iowa (and/or others) chum in the water, swim the other way. Don't take the damn bait.

Or at the very least, stop and think and write a response that won't get you sent to the principal's office.

Not everything is a personal attack. Stop and think before you hit the Post Message button. Sometimes the best course of action is to Shut The Fuck Up!

COMMON SENSE IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE INTERNET

now take it all back!

years ago we went to my folks place for xmas and at dinnertime my cat jumped up on a side table. Ain't no thang cept for the lit candle he straddled when he landed. Unconcerned, and on fire, he took offense when the person nearest him tried to put the flames out. Still on fire he jumped off and beelines for the xmas tree. This raised the consternation level in the whole room but the fire blew out on his run and aside from some singed fur the godam cat was fine... and we have a story to tell unto the last generation.

my brother had a cat that would jump on the table during meals grab something and run.
one time we were having sushi and the cat grabbed a large amount of wasabi and ate it as he ran away
a short time later the cat looked as if he had eaten a bees nest, he then about drank the toilet dry. shortly after that the weirdest noise came from the room where the litter box was kept, soon after a smell
that said its time to go to the movie came from the same room.
the cat slept it off for a couple days and never did the jump grab and dash again

All the cats I ever own just piss on my pile of laundry, which might be classified as dirty but fuck if I wasn't planning to wear all of it for another few weeks...
Cats don't detract burglars. Our mastiff on the other hand...

What the fuck is all this talk about cats???

Don't get me wrong, cats are great - Especially when mans best firend sees one.

Why does mans best friend (dog - if you're daft and clueless) chase cats?

Probably because they're sly, conniving, steal, sneaky, etc.

I wonder if the characteristics of a cat is synonomous with those of it's owner?

Let's see... who one here has cat(s).

JVL... don't you have a half dozen?

Who else has cats?

Come on fess up!

i will confess at this time i have two dogs
but only because one dog thinks are small creatures are critters and must be chased down and killed, unless they fight back.

i will have another cat or two along with a dog, i have more than one wrench in the tool box too

Our last cat ran off all the dogs in the neighborhood that entered the yard... for real. Including the german shepard.
