Mr JVL, calling Mr JVL
December 12, 2013 12:25PM
Forgive the broadcast to all, but trying to get in touch with John.

John, can you give me a call when you get a chance? I'd like to follow up on the work and get an estimate of when it will be done for planning purposes.

Sorry had my head in wifey car for last xx days--which means I gotta get up and drive her to work at 0530 which means I have to shift workie work till later which means I've been DEAD---and I punched myself as hard as I can (it was a badly rusted exhaust bolt) with my thumb right in the right eyeball. Hard.So delays delays.
I have them here at the desk all washed and minty fresh but!

I have some reservations on just starting unscrewing things randomly--they are definately put together way different that the earlier models I have see and poked at.. I looked at the BARTEK/RSSP site and there is a big fat ZERO on anything related to servicing them--Just being careful to not make some easily avoided blunders...

But you know of anything saying Do this and DO NOT do that?

First impression from the absence of anything on service is that it is intentional....Hmmmmm

And a note: man are these things short travel in front..Why so short? They cannot be more than 170mm (and stock Subie fronts are 160mm and normal for my stuff is 190-200mm front travel). What's the big Que Paso?

The hardest part is getting a wrench on the big nut. I had a tool made to loosen it up. Dirt gets every where and things dont seem to un spin as easy as they spin on.
Good pics but they dont show the first couple of steps.

Yeah half done making a pin wrench---just home from picking up the girlie-girls...I'll make two and Eric an get one so if he wants next time to do a simple service he can have it there

Want to say what the first steps are before I get the heavy weapons and chisels and sawzalls fired up?

Unfortunatly the last set I tore apart eneded badly. I put it in the rigid pipe threader and used a pipe wrench. it did come apart but these things need never sleeze or grease or something. they cant sit and rust together or you fight like crazy.
