Isn't this more better than the current WRC?
October 03, 2007 12:24PM
Boys, I know some of youse guys have said that, like me, you just arn't that red-hot to watch WRC anymore, and certainly not the US series, well I stumbled on thios and want to know if I'm crazy, but doesn't this look better to watch?
Is it cause there's MORE drivers closely matched and MORE different cars---cars i point out that eventually nearly anybody could start in?

Those were the 323 "GT-R" which we got in 88 or 89, it's the longer wheelbase roundish things with an 1800 vs the 1600 and an improved gearbox w on the stock cars that had a VC CENTER DIFF.

Awesome video, even without sound.

Whenever I see the Celica, I think about El Matador, Carlos Sainz. Groovy Gaylant footage to boot.

Thanks for sharing, Juan.

I came upon my 1991 WRC review disc the other day. The intro to Colin McRae on the video is awesome. He's rolled his car like 3 times and they're like, "Colin McRae, famous for his crash or win style of driving, has rolled three times prior out of view of our cameras. This fourth roll, graciously in front of the cameras, would prove to be the final abuse, this car would be able to take from the young Scot." Or maybe it was 1992. It was in a Legacy I believe. Anyhow, 90's WRC was actually exciting to watch. Up until 01 or 02 is where I start to get bored watching old videos.

Watched 1991 last night. It was 1992 where he kept rolling. In 1991 he was in a Legacy and was leading until he rolled.

That was a great year none the less. The dissapointment when Delacour brakes his suspension and hands the lead to Sainz on the final stage of Monte Carlo. The video clip of a Galant on tarmac tires on pure snow was one of the most beautiful things to watch.

My wife said, "This is way more entertaining to watch than the current WRC events."

I think I'll watch 1995 next. That was also a great year.

Oh yeah, check this, it is a Volvo:

And in the woods in a Volvo:

And this Spanish ad for Fiat is just too funny--but does show cultural awareness:

The second one should be required viewing right after JV gives his sermon on why you should have a close ratio gearbox and a short final drive. Although the car looks like it might need a quicker steering rack.
