Well Malcom Wilson seems to be doing something right.

49% of the field at Rally Portugal will be is some sort of Fiesta. Here is the break down:
- 6 Ford Fiesta RS WRCs
- 5 Ford Fiesta RRCs
- 2 Ford Fiesta S2000s
- 14 Ford Fiesta R5s
- 15 Ford Fiesta R2s

Ford may be down right now but not out. Hopefully they can put up a good fight against the new lot of wrc monsters.

The Fords were clearly slower than all the rest. Very clear that they're down on power compared to the Citro and VW, even the Hyundays.

They need a new car developed they can't compete with all of the new wrc team builds.

With 49% of the field being Fords, I don't think Ford, or M-Sport, have to do much different.

Agreed, that's almost as good as the 55-60% of the firds in Swedish events being Volvos of one sort or the other.

I always lurv it when .024% time difference is "clearly faster" car or somebody beats the other guy by less than 1% difference and people are all saying "Obviously he all washed up, oughter retire!!! No! NO! Sepukku! Only honderable thing is sepukku!"

Is that the difference between factory money and privateer money, since that is basically what M-sport is at this point?

Its actually even greater difference, privateers are still in it to win something. Msport on the other hand is a business (just like prodrive and look what happened) and in being a business, its there to make money. That means making a profit from selling cars and renting them. Also money spent on R&D doesn't show on the profit tables, so just like prodrive the monies from factory and sponsors gets pocketed and the team is then left to make omelets with no eggs.

Citroen, VW, Peugeot, Hyundai, are all there to promote the brand, all that matters is the marketing. Therefore winning is the priority, selling and renting cars is a small by product.

Totally agree, this is what I was getting at. You can't really blame M-sport as without the Ford $$$ and motivation this is there only way to really survive.
