Uggh, a GL.

Driggs, check out brickboard.com. There's a ton of stuff about the various woes you'll encounter. The temp gauge is most likely a bad temp compensating board or a bad PCB on the cluster. There's a bunch of info on brickboard about jumping around the comp board. Easy to test.

What year is this thing? Hopefully the engine wiring harness is ok. Check the 8 pin connector at the firewall. If the engine-side connector is a darker grey, then you've got a replacement harness without the biodegradable wiring. If it's the same color as the firewall-side plug, you're in for fun.

I think it's pretty neat, actually. Plenty of room for hauling GVR4 parts to and from the salvage yard once I start the repairs on that nightmare. (Still. I miss boost, AWD, and a 5-spd.)
