Something car-related to see in CA during 07/26 to 08/13?

Hey guys.

The missus and I are going to California on our delayed honeymoon. We're flying from Yurup on the 26th of July, and leaving LA on the 13th of August.

I've been granted a days worth of car related activities, so do you guys have any recommendations in that timeframe? :-).
Car shows, races, what ever.

If you were around on 8/16, you could make the Gorman Ridge Rally, which is about 80 miles North of LA.

Otherwise, you might check out the Petersen Auto Museum on Miracle Mile in LA.

Or just go out and do some illegal street racing or a drive by shooting. If they catch you, it's a night in jail and they'll crush the car right away. Good times.

There is Cars and Coffee every Saturday morning in Irvine. They have a website now. Something like carsandcoffee.com I guess. It's just an impromptu car show, but mornings are usually pretty nice in SoCal and a couple million $$$ worth of exotics go well with the first cup of the day.

Try to rent the least terrible American car (there are places to rent a stick Miata in LA for like $45/day) and use Google maps to find a road. Angeles Forest/Crest Highway is great for SoCal and there are amazing roads all over the state, from desert to rainforest. It all depends where you want to go.

the Gumball3000 is on the left coast this year. Starts in San Fran on August 9th, makes a stop in LA that night, and finishes up in San Diego on the 10th.
