New Turbo
April 05, 2006 12:20AM
Today, by total luck, I ended up buying the BIGGEST (I mean it) turbo I have ever seen in real life, even bigger than the one the Freightliner had.

I have no clue why I did it, what I am going to do with it or where it goes. It was a price I couldn't say no.

I think it is a Garrett T90 but I am not sure. I couldn't cross reference the part number it has. I know you boys want to see pics, cool your jets, I will put it next to the TD05H 16G I have and take some piccies.

DUUUUUDE IT"S HUUUUUUUGE !!!

Define big? We were looking at one a bit smaller than this one once at TEC before they closed. It was from the HVAC system at Denver International Airport.

OK here is a comparison;

The 16G EVO3 turbo is a Vienna Saussage tin and the BIG one is a Folgers Can.

I came to find out that it is a VVT type turbo, possibly out of a diesel Kodiak or something like that, inside the hot side are pals that are activated by a step motor, I presume they reduce lag and allow the turbo to spin faster in the low RPMs.

It seems to have an internal wastegate that is controlled electronically aswell.

Pics will be up very soon

You don't know what to do with a huge turbo?

I know what I'd do with it!
