On a recent trip to New York I visited the site of the World Trade Center for the first time since it was re-opened to the public. The evening before, I carefully registered my name and personal information online for a 10:00 am reservation. When I arrived the next day I was greeted by 2 security personnel who checked my printed web reservation and directed me to a another security station where they checked my driver's license and issued me an official ticket. I joined the line that looped back and forth and led into a building. Once inside the building I removed my coat and placed all of my personal belongings on the belt and entered the memorial on the other side.
My feelings during the entire time I was there are more than I want to share here. I just know I wanted to share. |
