I want a plane. Actually, I've been thinking about getting a Ducatti so I can travel out of my little bubble that scooter ownership has gotten me. Anyone seen 40 Year Old Virgin? It's a pretty funny movie. I went out with this girl I met one night and she's like, "So, do you want to pick me up or should we meet there?" and I responded, "We'll either have to meet there or you pick me up because all I have is a scooter and it's like 25 degrees outside." She picked me up and had to take me home the following morning so I could go to work. High class. But that movie reminded me of that.

The answer to your bubble lies not in a Ducatti, but instead in another scooter :

Uhh. My bubble is limited mostly by my top speed of 35 on the scooter. With a regular bike I could get a little further away from home.

I've included a pic of some ideas for you to squeeze out maybe 48MPH or more.

Failing that, you could mill the head, re-jet the carb, punch out the baffles of the exhaust, remove the air cleaner and stretch a pair of your moms panty hose over the carb.

That should net some acceleration as well as top end !

Hindsight is nearly 20/20. I've got a great girlfriend at the moment. It's hard to imagine a much better one.

So, to update this thread, the Escort didn't sell at $10,300.
However, for those that were interested the reserve was $12,000. Someone buy this it would be such a cool sleeper. I would love to be up at the traffic lights next to some ricer kid with his coffee can exhaust - then blast away!
My dreaming stopped at around $7000.
