Interesting, thanks for the tips. The big reason for the silicone lines is that they don't get brittle/buldge like rubber lines eventually do over time due to heat/chemicals. That may be a more "onroad" thing however if they are not as durable as you say.

I personally have only ever had three coolant lines fail on me, two were oem on a 450,000km 20 year old Subaru and the one on the Talon. If I can source the right sizes easy enough (which should take all of five seconds), I'll look into buying rubber ones instead. Not as simple as going "click" for the silicone kits though winking smiley

So, a small update. I've been trying to find a set of OEM 15" alloy rims to mount my studded general altimax's on, as the roads are nice enough at our winter events to not require me using my team dynamic rims. Considering the cost to mount and balance the winters once would be equal to finding some cheap alloys, the search was worth it.

In the end, it looks like I'll be going with Mazda MPV 15's from the early 90's. I was hoping to keep it in the Dodge family by scoring some Grand Caravan rims, but nothing was coming up. Also can't complain about paying $60 for the set of MPV rims smileys with beer

The FIA seat mount is done and beautiful (I won't tell you how much it cost yawning smiley ). Because of Jeff's height, we'll be looking at mounting his seat directly to the floor following the FIA regs. Not ideal, but I can't really see a way around it. Some good news is that SFI cage padding is legal (I did not know this) for use, and it comes in much thinner sections than the FIA stuff. Yes, it is not as much protection, but this should give my head the required room to not constantly bounce off the cage.

Another thing that will help with that is the additional set of sparco aluminum seat mounts I picked up last weekend.

The ones pictured are the originals. That "zig" they have in them forces my seat to be further away from the tunnel. In an unexpected design change, the new ones I bought are just flat! This allows me to get another 1/2" plus closer to the tranny tunnel cool smiley

Here's to hoping the Tal[hoon] starts on Friday in -22*F (-30*C) weather eye popping smiley

Hey Adam,

I used an RX-8 oil filter, it's smaller but from the information I could find flows aren't slowed down.

It helps significantly with fitment and ease of replacement.

Also, how are the motor mounts doing?

Here were my driver and passenger side mounts;

Motor mounts look pretty new! The motor better be falling out before I think about changing them as IIRC they look like a bitch to do (seems like it'd be something to do when already doing a timing belt) winking smiley

Naw, getting the mounts in and out is easy, 45 minutes total for both. Literally the only things you have to do is remove the battery and battery tray, and put a jack under the transmission. And the drivers side isn't obstructed by anything.

The pain is getting the centers punched out, as I didn't have a press I used a hacksaw to cut the inner band then a huge flathead and hammer to "press" it out.

I knd of think Adams mounts have had the urethane trick done. I seem to remember Mike using up my tube of stuff on something, just can't remember what.

There is zero engine movement (amazing for a DSM) so I wouldn't be surprised. I'll have to look more closely at it this weekend when I finally get the car back. If it only takes an hour to remove them, I might do it before the test day just because to check on them...

Was a bit nervous about the MPV rims, turned out they were off of a 1st gen which had a 25mm offset. Everything worked out though, with the 185 wide winters they'll fit almost exactly the same as the 205 pirelli gravels on 6.5" team dynamics with 46mm offset. They are also going to look bitchin' once they are painted tomorrow... You'll never guess the color drinking smiley

My friend Ann, may she rest in peace, painted her V4 that she built in my shop that "Federal Safety Purple" aka Krylon "plum" aka Barney color, and with all the gold cad plated water pipes and bolts and hose clamps it looked sharper than hell.
