Well "StarionEight eight Seven" ![]() 1" shouldn't call for any mods to tower on your RWD thang. Typical is about 1-to 1.25" and Gustavo---who is scrambling to be ready, measured today and said his are a smidgen over +1" As for the driveshaft thing he said can't be that cause the car drives down the road smoothly and no tugging or pulling.... So we've a) plunged the insert, that works, ![]() goes the whole way.. Ourr current thoughts are is simple: car is much lighter than I was thinking and supplied a spring too stiff Gus said his last one was like 2200lbs, I was counting on min 2450. He's going to weigh the whole car and try to get a front and rear weight, I'm going to drop ship some springs. We gotta get this... from my bud's car (same gen SE-R, but with QR25 swap, no cage, no pass. seat, and 175lb him in the driver's seat): FL: 738 ___ FR: 711 RL: 418 ___ RR: 395 Total: 2262 He claims that the QR (+6 speed tranny) is lighter than the SR20. Or not much heavier. Or something. All I know is, compared to the 1.6 honda engines I'm used to, the QR25 is HUGE. Also, I don't know what all might be missing from the car in that estimate. AFAIK, it's not really all that near running or driving yet, so that may be light, or he might have thrown ballast in for a rough estimate. ![]() ![]() http://www.utahrallygroup.com |

The inner joint is a sliding tripod joint from 1991-2001. Pretty much any 2.0 sentra se (1998-2001) or SE-R (1991-1997) have the same driveshafts if they have the LSD transmission (some from 1998-2001 didn't) Gus has a 1991-1993 car as he has in the past.
I had the same issue when I dropped my coilovers out one time. The shaft came unsplined on the outer joint and I had to remove the boot and get it lined up to make it work. The inner joint is the tripod joint and should have enough movement to take 30mm extra length. Gus may have yanked the outer joint out and now it is stuck against the race/cage. He may be able to just jiggle the shaft and have it line up right. May take two people, one to do the aligning and one to push the hub back on to the axle shaft. |

OK sounds good except he said the car drive and no shake or noise... Does it bind up and prevent up travel?? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Pacific Standard Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time. |

I don't understand the problem then....
If the "won't hardly budge" issue is related to spring rate or something? If the car drives without vibration then it is not a driveshaft issue. When mine popped out, I didn't realize it until I put the car on the ground and tried to drive off--no go! Shaft just spun and ripped the boot, made some horrrible grinding noises to boot. What else is there? I'll PM Gus on the SE-R forum and see what's going on. |
Let's hope it is that simple as the springs!
Hey John, part of the Starion issue with the extra length is that at the new full droop that extra inch is allowing things to go too far out of alignment. I am worried about tie rod bind and such. Also, the strut mount change has nothing to with the length but the fact that the top perches are rattling against a part of the underside of the Starion top mount in a bad way. So I'll fix that and put in a vertically moveable top mount and be able to adjust things in. |

What springs did Gus get JV?
I had 300ish on the front of mine and at 2300 including driver it was rough as poo! Even standing on the corner of a car I could not get it to compress, but I knew it moved under racing conditions because the shaft boots got all goofy each time I drove. Gus may be worried about nothing! |

Confirmed at 275 and I think 14", the idea is to run little to no prelaod..that way you get some intial compliance but the rate is a decent one... I'm thinking if his car is around 2200 like he thinks to go down to 225 and let him wind it up a bit.. What suspension and travel do you have? He has 190mm travel Bilsteins.
