Only 1030lbs more than my Xratty with 6 gallons in it---and street car seats..
Lotta weight.. More traction!

Nice looking truck...I'll be watching this thread...

If you'd like to ditch the 3.0 for a duratec I-4 ..but dont have the bux for a fancy ported head forged internals etc. proper build yet... the hot ticket these days looks to be swapping in a low mileage boneyard cheap
2009 up 2.5 duratec from a fusion/escape / mazda6 or 3.

Several focus and mx5 guys have done it.
170-175 hp bone stock and add header/cams/intake/tuning and drive it.

100mm stroke so it ain't gonna rev but who cares...nice fat torque curve...just what you need for a heavy pickup.

A 2.5 moves my wifes 3400 lb. slushbox equipped mazda 6 surprisingly well.

Im doing one as soon as possible in my focus since my 2.3 done blowed up!

John, take this anyway you want. This is a thread about MY build project, not about YOU telling me I am wrong for X,Y,Z reasons. The Ranger has nothing in it or on that will resemble a Volvo or an Xr4ti. So please unless it is an answer to a specific question asked or raised can you please keep quiet.

Maybe you and Gobright have forgotten that this is a "discussion" forum..
You post something for people to read... and thet are many readers out there who mainly lurk..
Somebody who doesn't give a shit about anythings says "OOOOOh coooolio"

I say yeah, cool...only 1030 lbs more than..."

I say it because as you know in this Continent the growth has been negative over the last 30 years..
I believe part of that is the endless dropping out/never finished deal and part of that is the uncritical--anti-analytic "oh everything is cool no matter what" reaction from a lotta dreamers--and then others see no counter information and then they think "Wow everybody says ____________ is cool, maybe I'll do one.."

But whatever, you made your decision, you just want to post and not discuss anything , whatever, fine..

Maybe this should merge with Facebook?

John the issues is its not constructive criticism you give.. its just well this

Other than buying a hard to find variety of obscure antique rally weapon, how would you suggest he cut down on the weight in this rig?

Maybe the Bro Lite guys have some suggestions... http://www.broliteracing.com/

Matt have you thought about building something that could be dual purpose?

A place here in Calgary is getting rid of a set of fiber bedsides for cheap! I'm aiming to do the Mint 400 with it next year. And maybe a few other desert races. So it's going to be a multipurpose toy.
