You can get the 2.95 gears for either the Ford or GM mainshaft, but my understanding is that the splines are slightly different between the 2 so the gear sets cannot be interchanged without also changing out the mainshaft.

The Mustang changed to WC in 85 and the Camaro a coupla years later. There's stuff on the net out there on all this.

The 2.95 gearset was the standard V8 gearset for Ford pre 85 and those are non "world Class" which is a joke cause the big "World class" hype was about "improved shift quality" which they got from the same suppliers as EVERYBODY ELSE which hasd some spray on kevlar facing on the inside cone of the synchro rings-----which protly flaked off after 18-20 months and shift quality went to hell.

AFTER 85 the 2.95 was "aftermerket" or "Z-spec" box.

The Camaro V8 boxes all came with 2.95, the V6 came with I think 3.45.

Ford used the 2.95 gearset in the Cosworth rwd cars but with a nice 0,8 top.

Here is a good table for the Ford T5 gear ratios. Varied a lot from early to late and from 8 to 6 to 4 cylinders.

Edit: Where did that link go?? Gettin' old....

well i got one coming,
after more measuring i think i could do ether short or long, its only
43mm. this should get em started. sound like it might need a shift
fork.
i have a bell for motor fitment coming.
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/grt/main.html
so jv, if the bell is to short think it best to make a ring for adapt.
if too long cut and weld a ring on? weird cast alum might now weld solid.

thanks for you help guys.

And don't tell anyone this, because non WC transmissions are worth almost nothing on the used market because people think they're awful.

Meanwhile people for some reason lust after the T56, which shifts like a truck to begin with.

IIRC you're supposed to use ATF with the WC units, use gear oil and it f's up the synchro faces.
