New regulations for Rally America
January 30, 2008 05:18PM
Time to start saving now. We have a whole lot of 'upgrades' to look forward to in 2009 and 2010 in our efforts to stay abreast of international standards.

May have to rethink where all my gauges were going to go since now I'll need a net tether in the middle of the car. Why not just attach us to the seats and make codrivers wear mirror glasses and write all your stage notes backwards. Or electronic stage notes that you page through with a button engaged with your tongue and the codriver wears a pair of those glasses that are like watching a 55" TV that show you the current notes.

Thanks Subaru and Peugot. Another move to make rallying unreachable by the masses.

Time to limit the sport to two wheel drive and limited displacement. Then it becomes a skill game, and not a safety game.

Just when I thought it would be possible to continue to rally.......this is getting out of control. I think this is the begining of the end for most of us.sad smiley

Well, just beacuse NASCAR has introduced the COT doesn't mean that all circle track late model and sprtsman cars are going to be mandated to be replaced with COT's.

As for for the nets: it's about the cheapest thing one can do to help side impact neck injuries.....a lot chaeper than the current crop of SFI 38.1 H&N devices.

I'll be interested to see the impact absorbing side cage structure. Bet it'll look a lot like NASCAR side bars. Wonder when FIA will adopt halo bars too......

I think the first time I heard this exact statement was back in the 70s when SCCA decided to require roll cages in all classes. smiling smiley

Hasn't Rally America already more or less said they have to follow what the top level of the sport does in order to protect themselves? How do they say it, "align the safety standards with the rest of the world." Or something along that line.

They're just ensuring that the only people who can compete are the people who can afford the best laywers.
