Grant Hughes has complained a number opf times that he can't figure out where to mount the combined sump guard/jack point and towing eye plates and also the sump guard center support, I've said several times look at the book, but its not enough it seems.

Here is a clear piccie showing the front and rear placement:

The sump guard center support mounts (6) to the "frame rails " or "Chassi legs"

There's a front and a back to it, when nestled against the chassi rail the bottom should have a slight "up in the front" inclination.

Hold the up center support up to the chassi rail, slide it rearwards till it stops.
That's more or less where it gets mounted, clearance as needed.

Grant, this clear up things?

I know where they are supposed to go. I sold the tow points long ago though. You may remember the guy asking me to copy them for him and me telling him to fuck off. Some day I might get around to welding the center support thing and fitting it. It's all about time, money, and necessity. I have more pressing things for the car at the moment.

Then what was the problem, and more succintly, why were and are you constantly complaining about them?

I made one comment about them. And that was that they cost more and had less use to me than some of the things that I 'splurge' on and that I was glad that I sold off the tow points since the rules now require steel not aluminum, and that I never figured out how they were supposed to be mounted, but that's because I assumed they'd be designed to use existing mounts, not requiring one to captively weld M10 nuts onto the frame rails. But it doesn't matter, as I said, since I sold them and have since made a steel front skidplate support that uses existing holes on the frame rails.
The center support problem was Paddy. I believe he gave it away to Ian Glyn-Jones though for the Targa car and he has it installed. I saw a picture of it somewhere.

Great tow-hook. Subaru powered 510.

Those articles really helped me when we were running our 510.
