Saturday it is! You'll have to remind me where you live, I've only been there like twice and it was years ago when you helped me with my brake setup...

so perhaps you had more useful things to do than be workin around the shop all evening... I must have missed you. I dropped off the stuff around 7:30 last night, in front of the garage door that's partially open for the kitties smiling smiley

OK, hey send your phone number!
William "Steel solutions" over in Redmond is going to be making some strut tower tops for use with the Sub-a-rat top mounts that these things were built to use, does that car have tower reinforcement already?

If so send him a note OR BETTER STILL CALL!!! 425 868 8263.

We're also making some rear beam strengthening bits (if you have a cell) which you can get in on too.

two ohbaby sicks! two sicks fiver tree seven ninty-nine.

Here's some pictures of the current strut top setup. Worth changing? The only part that bothers me is the overall height, which I was told was done to make the extra tall JVAB struts fit, which worked. I didn't have any trouble removing or reinstalling the suspension in the front.

What type of top mount are those? Subaru model and year or part number?

Anything after the 90s Legacy. They should all be the same.

Thats a pretty odd way to mount them, considering on the subies they mount from underneath with studs that stick up. Seems like a lot of pulling on 3 little points.

Have to agree on the wierd part. be a suspension ex-spurt came up with the idea so it has to be cool.

If'n it was my car, I know I'd mount them below and use the large register like its suppossed to and not worry that the OAL of the suspenders is now taller by the thickness of the plate.

But what do I know?

It's funny, I was just thinking about this the other day -- good thing you still have the struts, I might end up re-doing the tower so it's not so odd, but for easy fitment that means the shorter inserts you were talking about. Right now the entire car is suspended via three little bolts, so a jump or hard hit or something could concievably shove that whole strut/spring type assembly into the hood, beefy top mount or not heh.

Yeah, grafting in a simple, stong tower top should be hard but lets look at what can be done before chopping.
Can you post some piccies what it looks like now without the stuff installed?

That current design is pretty darn scary
