I'm sitting here watching videos of Mcrae in the like 1993-1995 WRC. He's in Legacies and Impreza's.

1. these cars look and sound awesome...it's all due to the diffs. etc.

but the biggest thing. they are actually revving these things!

They did use restrictors back then....this is the vintage when Toyota got caught cheating...no??

So..what's the different. Why do these things appear to be revving really well, etc.

These older cars just sound SOO much better than a new WRC subaru with equal length crap.

From Subaru site...
The high point of SUBARU's WRC career, 1995 started with a change in regulations. To restrain vehicle power, the regulation diameter of the restrictor (attached to the turbo's air feeding mechanism) was reduced from 38 to 36 mm. Engines would now receive less air, drastically reducing the performance of turbo vehicles.

From somewhere:
The internal diameter of the restrictor is being continually reduced by FIA regulations from 38mm (1992) to
36mm (1994) to
34mm (1995) and now 32mm on GroupN cars
(the 34mm restrictor still applies to GroupA cars).

It was 40 prior to '92
