bead roll or flare on ?1/4"? steel fuel line???
October 10, 2008 09:17PM
Sorry for the silly question. I want to attach plain rubber fuel hose on the ends of my fuel rails but I want to cut the ends a bit shorter (just space problems) the ends are bead rolled from the factory. How should I finish the ends off so the hose can't leak?

I have always just rolled/flared the ends of fuel line with a phillips screw driver. Just wallow it around a tad to flare the end. Use a small file to remove any burs or sharp spots. You don't want to shave any rubber pieces and plug an injector. A spray of brake kleen will make the line slide right on and with no damage or residue. Make sure you use fuel injection hose.

Take a double flaring tool and do the first step halfway.

well that was easy....
Bought myself a cheap double flaring kit which included a neat de-burring tool. Cut the fuel rails, put a really nice double flare on it and spent a lot of time with some emery cloth making the piece super smooth and professional looking. Now ze car may start!

I heard! Thanks John. BTW, Ontario's gonna have an all "tarmac" event on a track in peterborough as a regional event. I REALLY wanna run it! Can I use some shorter springs (from you, hint hint) to get the ride height somewheres reasonable for smooth track road coarse kinda thing?
