John and all. Ontario has a new "all tarmac" regional rally this year. What are my options for a JVAB 50mm tarmac set-up?

Go see Iain, and steal some JDM coil-over stuff that he has.

Remember..it's likely going raining, and maybe even still snow covered, "soft" isn't a bad thing.

I've been to Shannonville and run track days in the heat of summer, on sticky tires, on my "gravel" set-up + sway bars and run circles around alot of cars even with N/A hp.

Rally Car:
xr4ti

I ran Rally Tennnessee last year which is all tarmac and the only change I made was putting the rear sway bar back in the xr4ti and redoing the alignment. Same springs, same ride height as gravel. RT is held on paved backroads so it is not like being on a racetrack.

We generally looked at the 1000 lakes rally specs in the Ford Manual to set the alignment for the car. There are also some specs in the Ford Manual for smooth tarmac events.

only thing that kinda bothers me is that my car sits REALLY high. I can lower the springs but that means that on droop the spring is free. So I guess that means I'd need shorter inserts? I might just run stock STi stuff.

If you're worried about free-floating springs on droop, why not pick up a couple spacers and helper springs to keep everything in place.

Mine get like 4-6 inches away on droop. Doesn't seem to hurt much. Scrapeage of some anodizing, but okay.
