I haven't read the rulebooks in a while, but is there any rule that a car has to have only 1 engine?
How about a civic with a 900RR engine at each corner? You could do crazy things with weight distribution. Pretty lightweight I would think, N/A so no restrictor(s), Good horsepower (those things make like 100+ a piece right?), sequential shifting, no diffs to break, if you break something in 1, you got 3 more to drive home on. motor cycle engines are stupid,
but after reading the rules again, mike hursts' mustang is now in group 2. so is a NA rx7, so is 3.5L nissan in a 240sx so is a 3.2L v6 in a volvo (ditch the turbo john Lane) Welcome to a new "super power" era in rallying. your 1.6L is worthless here. begin shitting bricks. - STOP SHITTING BRICKS - your right andrew. 3. Replace the following definitions in Article 1.9 with the following: Group 2 Two-wheel drive cars with normally aspirated, small displacement engines with Open class style modifications allowed. [STRIKE]Adjusted displacement is limited to 2400cc.[/STRIKE] Refer to Article 10.2.B.9. "I put the hurt on dirt" - adam crane http://CraneRallyCrew.com corolla gt-s "Patches" Op: S.S. In the RA rule book the 10.2.B.9.b still contains the GpF style displacement to weight chart. The Mustang exceeds the maximum displacement of 3,080cc So 1.6L cars can still have an advantage because of the lower weight they are able to run. I still don't know if a motorcycle engine is the way to go but all is not lost for small displacement cars. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/11/2008 04:02PM by Andrew_Frick. |

Tom, keep building.
Like Doivi says, someone's gotta drive it, and even more important, someone's gotta build it and make it finishable. Ask NatuRally about their build. Or me about mine. It takes time to develop a car from scratch even when you have the engine in the same spot. You can drive your ass off. Getteth thee a quick, reliable, light rally car and let the beatings commence. Yes there is still the 3000cc limit on G2, yes you can put the engine in the glove box....and if you can prove the thinnest of connections for engine parentage you should be fine.
Open class for G2/G2 is now pretty much a reality. The new Open Light class is also pretty exciting. Now let me assure you if a car comes in with flakey construction it will not get a logbook. Go ahead make a mid engine Bunny or Golf, just make sure the work is sound. |

Free the ties to the manufacturer and I will stop rallying for a year (or two) to build an incredibly well built monster....seriously, what is the point of keeping within the make now?
In the mean time I will be tidying up our beast to start a Cody v. Burress v. I talked with Hurst about this a few times. I still will work on it. He did mention once (I think) that if the parentage rule were dropped it would be on a regional only basis. Hey we're making progress though ! |

I don't understand the parentage thing at all with the ability to put the motor where ever you want....Gene, you get it going at the regional level, and I will leave, sell pretty much everything I have and return in a bad way, stupid way....as long as I could compete nationally in the regional car I could care less where I am scoring points.
Grant, get the fuck out here and get going, there is some fun 2wd boys out here to get down with...plus Canada is right here, like ^^^^ come RACE. -Tom DemonRallyTeam | Fine Tuning | CTS Turbo & RP Turbos | RalleyTuned | JRM | Meister Autowerks Spitfire EFI | Product Apparel | JVAB Imports | NLS | AP Tuning | USRT Add us on Facebook | Next Event: 2013 Olympus Rally June 22-23 Olympia, WA |
