The Z3 suspension will bolt in to the compact chassis, but it is not the same. From what I've read its actually a bit of an upgrade if you can find it as a whole unit. More heavily reinforced arms, slightly wider track, and bigger brakes.

The tightest steering rack was from the Z3 6cyl, not sure on the suspension differences. Since I'm going with the turret setup and using the car for rally, I wasn't really concerned with stock stuff.

Thanks! Probably not going to see a race this year, but who knows. I was orig. trying for MaxAttack!, but that was when the West event was assumed to be Idaho. No way we'll be done in time for Oregon. There's always Maine that same weekend, but that tow is going to be $$$$.

Yeah, but you already need to tow the Evo out there around that time for the Eurocross, just borrow Mark's two car trailer for a few months. smiling smiley

Rick Davis ran one of these back around 1996, with an M3 6 cylinder in it.

I love the second picture of the scales, BMW people I know never want to admit what their cars weigh, just that they are split 50/50.

what is your target weight?

Dave and grant, get me the center to center length on the OEM rear shocks.
may be that the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG things may be just a bit long, in fact i'm doing some - 1" ones to try out on Sean Metcalfe's car to see if we can set the car lower and still have the droop.

I'm thinking we have to watch the max length in the BMW, maybe - 1" or some 8. something coilovers I have.

Who and when are some front junk being sent?
We gotta look at top mounts, and lengths and fitment.

as of last Tues I'm out of 40mm tubes so I gotta get going on more.

Not sure where we'll end up, but I'd be happy if it was sub-2500. Some of the euro cars I have seen advertised as light as 980 kilos, but those are presumably with all fiberglass bodywork, T45 cromo cage, and a 4cyl engine.

Not sure what you mean here? I will be working on the car all day tomorrow so should be able to get you whatever measurements you need.

What are the different length shocks that are readily available? I'll have one of Grant's merkur rear boingers with me.

You just need a stock front strut? If so, could probably get that in the mail over the weekend....do you need the OEM springs on there still?

Do anybody know what happened to that beast? Did it end up getting trashed, or is it a garage queen, or what?

Dave got the Compomotives from that car. Heard it was turned into a track/road race car.

If it was sold to a guy named Eric (pic here: http://www.rallyroad.net/), he then sold it to a guy who went and road raced it. I bought the Compomotive TH wheels from it.

There is some really nice composite bodywork available for these cars on the other side of the pond.

But not before he stuffed it at one of the Tarmac Express events in Chattanooga. My buddy was co-driving for him and was deaf for a couple of days after the impact. They left the road at about 90 mph.
