My 88 golf was 2450lbs, weighed ready to rally (minus crew) on the scales at tech for some event. I believe it was 61/39.

Our golf weighs 2340# without crew ready to rally also about 60/40 split.

Removing all rally equipment, spares, tools, passenger seat, headlights, intercom, etc and gutted passenger door yielded about 2160# for the RA-RallyCross stuff in 2010.

Could easily drop 25-30lbs off the front skidplate and frame but since it is low and important/strong, no bother.

Gutted or carbon/fiberglass hood could drop 15+lbs
Tubular front suspension subframe saves another 14lbs if we ever were to put one one the car.
The front crossmember under the radiator could be integrated in the skidplate frame saving another 15ish lbs too.

^^^ Never seem to have the time to do these things --even though they would make the car simpler, lighter, and stronger. ^^^^

My civic is just around 2400 race ready without crew.

Like Josh, I could easily save some pounds here and there:
Fiberglass/Carbon hood/hatch
Gut electrical harness of unwanted bits
Half the size of my false floor on driver's side
Aluminum seat mounts
Tubular front subframe
Fiberglass dash
Lighter bumper beams
Cut misc metal bits
1/8" HDPE instead of 1/4" under the floors

If I went into rull rallyx/track mode I could get my car under 2200 likely.

My 240 with the Turbo-6 weighs in at 3025lbs ready to race.

I hope to have her back out there; scaring spectators before long. We'll see.

Yeah no shit, it's hard to explain to people your Volvo and they get this confused look of "how much from a old Volvo".

They need live explanation of why Volvos will always be cool. smiling smiley

I'd like to...... Obama's economy is not working out for me.

The car needs a turbo....... Engine management...... Paint.... Misc and assorted sundries and it seems that I'll have to have...... Belts..... HANS and whatever else.... Ugh!

Spectators really need to know what it means to have been well and truly pelted with my dangerous rock spray and get to partake of the delicate scent of smoking rear tires and candy-gas!

Smoking rallytires on stage....... Bwahahahahahahaha!! This is how we put a minute on the field in Pomeroy. Heehee....

I keep working at it.

Well no shit, pomeroy is a fricken drag race. You brought the rally equivalent to a drag car. Our little put put cars can only do so much.

Well John,
The current plan for the 75 colt is a 4g63 turbo becuse my last rwd car did not have the fun factor that your car did!
It is a year or so off for the build but it would be cool for us to be back at each other with closer hp cars!!!
And in line of the thread the car should be around 2500 or so....

BMW Compact with a 95 M3 mill is ~2650 (55F/45R), but that doesn't include a spare or other race ready assorted bits. That's also weight with everything still metal. Fiberglass hatch, hood, and bumpers will likely drop some decent weight.
