Right topic wrong forum I know but....Seattle BMW question
June 13, 2012 10:24PM
Some of you guys know a thing or two about a thing or two.

So... I got a DNF on my way to a meeting a couple of weeks ago. My BMW 330 met the steel bumper of a Mercedes something or another and a 17-year old kid that tried to explain to me the value of a safety stop before crossing an intersection.

I'm not totally upset about it, I get a new bumper/accident forgiveness; they didn't even seem to mind about the Voodoo donut I was working on just before the little snafoo winking smiley

Long story short, I'm looking for any suggestions on a qualified body shop that works with original BMW parts. I have a guy I'm working with but it's been over a week and he's still trying to figure out how to get the photos uploaded to my insurance company portal. I'd like to have some backups that I can go to just in case (one that could take care of my brake dust would be even better). Insurance company gave me some names but my guy told me they would likely all be re-worked, after market parts that won't fit right.

Open to suggestions, I'll update my email address on my profile too.

(I guess he's not the only one that has trouble uploading pics.)

Looks fine. A little duct tape will patch that hole up just fine.

Maybe a little heat from a HD hair drier and push the buckle outwards.

http://www.hauryscollision.com/ They do good BMW body work. I hear that they have started doing some service and repair work also. I can't vouch for that.

http://group2inc.com/ This is a plug for the shop I work at. We do tons of BMW work.

Can't help on the shops...other than sending you here: http://www.bimrs.org/ (more for REPAIR than Collision) or telling you to check out the CCA (bmwcca.org)

But per ze wheels, what you want is the Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. If that doesn't pull it all off, zey also make a product called Body Solvent, that will pull the remaining tar, usw off the clear coat of the wheel.

Awesome! Both look good. I'll call today!

The place I'm working with now is Pacific Autobody

http://www.pacificautobody.net/

The owner has been great in the past, fixing up parking lot scratches and such I think he must have other big projects taking priority.

Thanks for the tip on the wheels too, is it like a protectant as well that will help keep the build up down? I do a lot of city driving. I'll check out the link!

I hadn't thought about the duct tape, hair dryer idea but that's a good idea. Get one of those magic paint pens and I'm good to go smiling smiley

Thanks again for the help with shop suggestions and the brake dust issue. Pacific Autobody ended up coming through for me but it was great to have the back ups!

Well Robert didn't either. He's German so genetically he had to do a GTI and was all happy.

Then...........................he drove a 96 V4 and realised what a superior car it was to almost anything else out there and had to have one.
