Seems like a lot of trouble for little benefit. I just gutted the stock box (its really light after you remove the AC parts) and plugged all the undesirable holes and reinstalled it. I haven't had any issues with water getting in the car even driving in a few down pours. My cowl, etc. is still intact so it pulls in air just like it did before it was a rally car.

Matt, uh yeah. Sounds reasonable
I dun't git hit.
Seems guys LIKE working on cars more than I like it..
Wait.
I don't like working on cars.

My cowl was in pieces once anyone touched it, like most things plastic on the car, and removing the blower motor took so little time that I don't even remember doing it. Then again, I probably just attacked it with a pneumatic body saw and sheet metal sheers.

The box is 2 clam shell pieces held together with clips. Screwdriver pops it open, dump out the offending bits, reassemble and cover undesirable holes, replace in car.

The XR cowls are extremely brittle mine broke in several places but we patched it up and put it back in. The XR looks idiotic without the cowl.

Totally agree! I was bummed when mine broke apart. I just cut up a piece of shiny black HDPE or similar and it seemed to work and look okay.
