Dash looks awesome - but that dash bar scares me...though maybe its just the angle of the pic. It looks like you could have some pretty nasty things happen if there was a direct hit on the front corner of the cage and the dash bar deformed in a downwards manner. IIRC, there was a car built here in denver about 10 years ago with a bar in maybe a slightly lower area that was told to cut and move above the steering column (amongst other issues - wavy A-pillar bars being the worst offender).

Dave

Your a pussay, snivelling about smashing all for knees. You know they have these nice all metal ones now. I got one and you don't see me whining about the knees..
Well just a little about the (very possibly) broken leg I've been hobbling on since the first like a dumb fuck...(that's what they said yesterday)

Man up Dave, you smash your knees just walk it off...[/harump mode off]

Low dash bars aren't permitted in new construction btw...must be above the steering wheel.

Except Eric B's Mazdaspeed 3, I have never seen one that wasn't stock that didn't look like shit.

John Reeds looks pretty good, maybe you haven't seen it:

This is what I'm picturing in my head, minus the fancy electronic dash. Will be a bunch simpler though. I

Be very careful about reflections upwards, very annoying the one time that I was foolish and did a home made dash...very annoying indeed.

A.J., what is this self-inflicted need? What are you trying to accomplish? Is your old dash toast, or are you doing this just because you have extra time?

One can go plenty fast with a stock dash.

But with my budget of $0 I made due with what I had. I still have this old keg sitting around I want to do something with. Think that would be a legal fuel cell? winking smiley

Cut the stock dash too much to fit in the car without welding in mounts. I'm not using the stock gauges at this point because I don't have a working set. I can pull another dash and fit it but that is at least the same amount of time as just slapping in a couple plastic sheets plus I need to buy some plastic for the rear door cards.
