Yeah I like really the idea of rotary swaps but with the torque made-seems wise to start with a sub-2000 lb. car to throw it in.....

A nice 13B makes more torque than the 2.7l lump that they probably yanked out of that car. And it'll keep making that until the tach runs around and stops pointing at a number.

Well I'm no rotary or old crusty BMW expert(but I kinda like both),but my googling expertise shows a 1983 BMW 2.7 making about 121hp at 4250 and 170ft-lbs at 3250.

Although the car in the ad is said to be a 318is ,so should have come with the ground-pounding
1.8 liter m42 with 134hp at 6,000 and 127ft lbs at 4600.
A neck-snapping 9.8 seconds 0-60 they say...

So ..maybe a built 13B NA ain't so bad in it...what kinda hp/tq #'s we talking about..searching on NA 13B dynos gave me a headache..

A sweet duratec with itb's powering an E30..now you're talking!

Oh and the hordes of people I could piss off!

A few miles away from home..where I work..the area is postively swimming with d-bags in Beemers....

Just the thought of driving such a car with the Beemer badges pried off and Ford Badges stuck on in their place makes me giddy...

Make mine a 318ti compact ....with vanity plate "H8 BMW" just to furthur confuse the sheeple!
(well I guess a compact is really an e36-isn't it?-at least in front)

I see nothing wrong with pissing off many of people with crazy engine swaps.

Mine is making about 230-240hp and 175-180ft-lb, the nice all-the-tricks motors are around 300-320hp and 190ft-lb. Peak torque is high up but rotary powerbands are not powerbands, they just sort of make the same thrust everywhere. Mine feels as strong at 2500 as it does at 8500. Putzing in town I use 2000-2500rpm as a shiftpoint.

And then you factor in the GEARING you can use when your engine is not dead and buried at something low like 5000-6000rpm.
