Dammit, I really WANTED one of these but I couldn't find one for less than twice that much. They are real giggle factories power-wise and I like the chassis dynamics but didn't want to spend $8k.

Ended up buying a Volvo S60 R last year for roughly what your friend is asking. It's not really a giggle factory so much as it is a chortle and guffaw assembly line.
