JVL NEW REAR COILOVERS VOLVO 240
September 02, 2008 12:19PM
I am selling brand new JVL rear coilovers designed for my 83 240 - I paid just over $2000.00 for the fronts and the rears - the rears include the towers required for instalation (see posts in Rally Anarchy about this process).

As far as price, please make me a reasonable offer they are in Calgary Alberta.

Photos on request - there are lots of pics on this site of them.

Thanks

Houston

Houston how about we find somebody local to do the weld in of the towers rather than throwing it all away?
Just talked to Tim Tatlor and he said he'd probably get to the sheet metal boxes this week, so you're so close, stick with it.

Surely there's some rally guys that can cut a slot in the shell, stick in a part and weld.

John,

Thanks for the email - i am just really intimidated by all the work that they are doing - the custom control arms, and what not. I also would like to see them race a few times before i cut into my sexy car! I have the towers and tried to market everything out for where they line up - but i had 4 people with 4 different opinions!! Let me know what you think - i would love to use them - just a bit gun shy.

You've just doomed yourself to rolling the first time out by calling your car sexy. smiling smiley I usually refer to my car as my ugly piece of shit German built Ford.

Look at almost every single good RWD Escort and Volvo overseas and watch their videos if you're in doubt about the appropriateness of the setup. Find some pictures of what they do to get a good suspension setup in your car and you'll see what the JVAB setup for Volvo's is copying. Shoot, keep the setup and run whatever else for a while until you realize it's lackings, or decide you don't need them and want to sell them. As new, they will go up in value over time which means you won't necessarily lose money in the future, but you will pay more to replace the complete setup in the future. Shit, it's even possible it won't be available in the future.

Houston,

I'll argue with JVL all day about sanctioning bodies and the politics of rally, but I'll tell you right now...if John says to do something on a Volvo , do it. The other 3 opinions are just wrong. He has the wisdom of Yoda ( in fact he is starting to look like him a little also ) when it comes to Eurotrash car prep.

Thanks for the motivation - I guess I just like the idea of getting a set of custom springs and valved shocks that bolt on and start driving tomorrow - rather than cutting, welding - both of which i have to pay someone to do since i can barely use wood glue and plastic scissors!

Than do it. Just know that eventually you'll probably want something better and if you can afford to keep the rear setup, than do it. Like I said, unused they'll just appreciate.
