Hey Guys,

Thought one of the X Ratty pervs out there might appreciate this specimen..

It's a Black 1987 Merkur XR4ti, 5 speed, 2.3 Turbo, stock wheels w/ street tires, all stock inside, and...the wings are intact. It doesn't run at the moment, and has a broken rear window (someone broke it out recently). I got this from a buddy that needed space, and didn't have time to get it finished up. Basically I got it not running, the head is off the block, but looks intact. Guess that the old owner broke down a bit north of here, and wound up selling it. It's a Wa. state car. Clear title in hand.

At any rate, there is way too little free time in my world to deal with building another project at the moment, so it's up for sale. As far as the body goes, it's straight, paint is good with a few knicks, and rust free. There are no signs of it ever having any major body damage, and no rust to speak of. This car is great candidate to build into a rally car, street car, or even a 24 hr Lemons car. Was actually thinking about swapping in a 90's 302 5.0 if it stayed in the stable.

What's a fair price for it? Was thinking in the $750 range? but cash talks

Need to try and find it a new home soon, but if no solid offers come in I'll probably wind up building it at some point sown the road. Seems like most Xrats wind up taking years to build anyway..smiling smiley

If you need pics, pm your email, and I'll gladly shoot some over.

Thanks for looking.

Rally On!

You are describing a perfect starter car, only dead Xratties bring MAX $200.

It's dead, if it wasn't dead then who knows, but dead is dead.

Dead because it doesn't run or what? How much is a running one worth? $200 is less than scrap value for it, but it is a 22 year old car that needs a few things.

Just trying to figure out the best thing to do with it. It is a good one to start a build foundation with.

You still have a bunch of parts in your pile for it?

Yeah the 302 polutes too much -> Not greenhouse friendly !

What you want to stuff in the Xratty is :

Fords new 3.5 liter direct-injected twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.

Producing 365 hp @ 5500 rpm and 350 lb-ft. of torque @ 3500 rpm (in stock form)

Think green - Think "EcoBoost" !

IMO the reason why todays turbocharged engines are being promoted as being 'green' is because the emissions tests were designed for naturally aspirated engines.

Here they test at idle and then dead rev the car to 3000rpm with no load and sniff the tailpipe for various emissions.

In this case, they're low because the turbo isn't singing.

Put a load on it, let the turbos spool 12psi and watch the emissions rise! It's simple math, more air means more fuel consumed= higher emissions as a product of combustion.

Also... What brand of turbo are they using on the ecoboost?

Fords going the turbo route to produce more power and 'less' emissions. I read 90% of fords will be turbo by 2013.

There was an Xratty rally car with a 5.0 (Colin Mcceleary?), and it was very bad ass..a guy can certainly wick up the boost to get V8 #s, but no lag with a 302. They're pretty cheap too. Painless wiring kit, and you're burnin' gas.

That new Ford motor sounds like quite a powerplant, but way out of the budget.

The 2.3t engine in the car would probably be just fine, it's just finding the time to build it.

Don't think that's the only remark I've ever pissed him off with..grinning smiley
