FS: 13" Datsun Libra wheels
September 20, 2010 02:48PM
I have a set of four of these wheels, and they look kinda goofy on the 210, so I'm trying to part with them. The tires on them all flat but one, so if you want to buy them but need them shipped, I'll pull them off. They're the typical 4x114.3 offset, and I think 6" wide.

$200 plus shipping.

I'm totally down for trading, though, if you have something I want. What I'm looking for is a set of 14" wheels of the same bolt pattern, and 6" wide. Ideally, I'd like some Minilite/Panasport replica/ripoff wheels, but that's not a requirement. Just run past me what you have and I'll see what I can work out!

Gene if you're trying try part with them you'll need to really sharpen the lip, and then spin them really fast. You'll really have to watch the temp as Datsun wheels are very hard and once you warm them up parting I worry the edge will go and wear will be a major problem...

Have you considered inserting 2--40 indexible inserts in the rim, something like this

I'm sure you can get a big fawkin hammer and wham those fuckers in till there only 1/8 unsupported stickin out. The more you hammer in the less cahatter there be when parting.

Gene said he want to part with these wheels, talk to him cause I don't see how can do that.
Here's a normal parting tool in use:

This is the knife in the quick change holder'

I think Gene's idea is crazy cause parting demands a narrow blade to shove in...

But the multiple indexing cutter could be used as a parting tool depending on work piece diameter.

Still probably better to sell these wheels to somebody who wants them as car wheels than take the money and buy a proper tool to be parting with.

Ben,

We used to run the 14" factory Toyota mags back in the day. I think they were off the Supra or maybe Celicas (been too many years). They are tough as nails and I never bent a rim no matter how hard I tried. I apologize for wanting to cut your wheels in two ????

I think those wheels would look kinda neat on my Corolla. But, I've already got enough sets.

The toyota wheel is 4x114.3, 14x7 with an ET of 8mm. From the Celica/Supra. There were both 14 and 15" diameters, if I remember correctly (which I may not).
they look like this:
and can be found fairly inexpensively. But if you're looking for a 6" wheel, they might be too big.

Or, if you can find a set of the Datsun 280zx wheels, they're 14x6, ET 10. Nice looking wheels, too:

Just by looking, It almost looks like the tires are being really pinched by the wheels, which might be why they look goofy.

Good point, that might be the other reason. The main reason they look so goofy though, is that I put fender flares on, and the wheel arches a bit taller as a result. Since my car already seems like it sits kinda high, the 13s make it look lifted! No thanks. smiling smiley

Sold, er, traded 'em! So yeah, they're gone in place of a set o' slot mags. With the inner portion of the mags painted black, they actually look pretty cool!
