Looking for a Ford Sierra

PRV V6 Stuff, A lot of stuff.
January 15, 2007 02:34PM
Hey Forum this is my first time posting. My car is still maturing, so until then i don't really have anything important to add to the other forum subjects. I'm very familiarized with the turbobricks.com forum. I started a PRV V6 project. I got the pistons and rods from John Lane, who in turn got them from John V. Anyone who has ever heard the tale about the rally-car that couldn't get out of its own way knows what this engine is capable of.

I started collecting parts as I went along. I ended up with a bunch of parts and now i just dont have the time to assemble this stuff and throw it in my car. I'm hoping that someone on here can find a use for this stuff that I have.

I started with the engine that is in my VOLVO 780, found out that the previous owner found a leak in the headgasket but thought it would be a good idea to keep running it anyway just as long as the handy dandy milk jug full of water was around. Needless to say I met into someone who was a few blocks lying around so i picked them up for 700 dollars.. I took the volvo b280f engine apart, hot tanked it along with the heads.

The Heads are rebuilt, all springs were checked for resistance and valve guide clearance was checked before being reassembled.

Here is a list of stuff I have.. I'm not too big on parting stuff out so if you like what you read, ask for pics and ill give you big ass pictures of everything i have. Like I said, i don't like to parts stuff out so send me an offer and winner takes all... or most. Hell, if you're local enough you can pick and choose what you want.

SACHS Timing Chain Set
Federal Mogul Main Bearing Set
BGA engine Gasket Set (I used the valve retainers for the Eagle Heads)
... Reworked Eagle Heads
Eagle premier engine without the heads.. duh
completely washed volvo b280f
water pumps
alternators
Power Steering pump
Intake manifolds (2)
Clutch and Flywheel (stock)
Manual and Automatic bell housings.
aw71 transmission fully functional and in good shape
CP Forged Aluminum Pistons, 92mm bore
Forged Steel Eagle Connecting Rods
Hoses
Exhaust manifolds...
I mean i got a lot of stuff, send me an offer if you want and winner can take all.
Alright Guys and Hopefully Women too....late.

I'll dig up his phone number, that way you have two chances of catching him.

Buy this stuff, its really excellent stuff and you won't break it even at John Lane's loooonie 500+ bhp. That's what it was originally invented for.

Besides he needs the dough cause I'm finishing of his Redblock rebuild with the equally nice JVAB 160mm rods and CP Pistons, and its nearing completion.

Brian has sold this junk to me.

John Brian has all his dough. He is all fired up about getting under way with his four cylinder project.

Remember John...... Measure twice and assemble once!!

I'm still looking for PRV V6 stuff. Not for a rally car - this is for a friend's DeLorean.

Let me get back to you on the specifics. At this point I know his engine's blown, but I don't know the details. I know he's also interested in getting a lot more power out of it, as the stock engine is apparently pretty anemic. He's also looking at other engine possibilities, but nearly everything else rotates the wrong way.

I'll say now that those heads aren't heads that I would be happy trying to make normal aspirated power out of.
Canted valves make for nice flow but a big open chamber.
Can't recall what flat tops would net for compression, but with stronger rods and some stouter pistons, they take to turbo like duck to water.

Delorian
July 25, 2007 10:44PM
The Delorian was a spectacular failure.. they look neat, but the aluminum main beam frame design is noodley and quite prone to rot/stress failure. The final nail in the coffin was as your friend says, that they are about as fast as a tired Ford Taurus. I imagine with a new and stronger frame (I know they make after market ones, since so many Delorians are having frame failure) and a motor that was woken up it would be a lot more fun. I wish him luck as they are pretty neat cars, It's a shame that they weren't executed better.

Huh. I know next to zilch about them, except that it's a neat-looking lump in his driveway. I think this was originally a CA car that he had shipped out to the east coast when he bought it, and then had shipped back here when he moved here. I know he used it as a daily driver for several years.

You'll find it interesting to work on (if you're helping him out).. the frame is different, I think a few Lotuses had frames like it. Here's a couple pictures of the after market frames that are being pushed.. I couldn't readily find a picture of the original design.
