To answer the question about F/R native split in Scoobies vs Evos, most of the Scoobies use a planetary center with some rear bias, while all Evos have spider-type centers, so they're 50/50. Of course, as you said, that's before the DCCD or ACD steps in, after which the native torque split of the diff becomes much less important.

If someone would like to explain how a SADEV works (in comparison to, say, a Haldex), I'd appreciate it. I will also go off and try to learn for myself.

...I wonder what Vermont is using?????

Vermont is using the Sadev box configured for Subaru use with an electronically controlled clutch.

Can you explain that a bit more, please? I don't if what you wrote means that the center is effectively a spool with a clutch on the connection to the rear diff (like a Haldex) or if it means that there's a center diff of some sort with a clutch-type limited-slip device (like a DCCD).

It's the spool/clutch thing.

You mean a ramp and roller clutch like the input hsaft on a Saab 96?

That was what was in Haldex diffs at some point.

This is a bit beyond the original question, but do folks like Vermont use this system because the best available systems are like this (because of, e.g., WRC rules) or because they really want a system that can instantly detach the rear diff (e.g., when yanking the hand-brake)?

Look at the poor lamented tread started by one of the more capable people here Paulinho---
look at the 50-60 post by one guy who has never touched the inside of a rally shock or damper or strut..
If we want this forum to ever be useful then you must help.. I have gotten dozens of calls or PMs saying "the guy is a total tool---but I don't want to get involved."

Nerd/geek/jerk offs have nearly ruined every forum I have ever looked at.. Oh gee golly I wonder what some ____________ (insert some unobtainium gee gaw) is using, is it better than ___________ (insert some other unobtainium flapdoodle)....

If anybody else had asked we might imagine they were a rally person curious and thinking of ways of trying to DO something.
This typical example of an autocrosser in all the worst possible connotations of that word--is not a rally guy, and his inanities do nothing...
As I have said, he has thousands of other forums perfectly suited to what he needs.
This isn't it.
You can help.

Complaining doesn't help..

A fully active Front, Center and Rear Diff was the height of technological advancement in the sport. You can't get the traction like they did in the Early 2000's anymore under FIA rules. 2005 was the end of the active front and rear diffs. The teams could continue to use the active center and I think that is why the STI and Evo continue to have such good controls associated with Motorsports. The technology is directly linked to the rules in the WRC between 2006 and the subsequent removal of active centers in 2011.

I think Vermont is using the best technology available for the rules in the RA series.

After reading all of that I think the conclusion is open cars run their own diffs possibly based on what wrc does but mainly focuses on being able to keep the front wheels spinning while the back are locked. Super fun kenny block driftiness… truuuuu

Complaining doesn't help..

Then maybe try fucking off ... as in, not sticking your nose into my threads.

If you're correct, my threads will get no replies and I'll probably stop posting. As it stands, given that this is one of the few forums where many folks know more than I do, this is one of the few places where I can get answers to certain questions. And, in several cases, such as this thread, I have gotten the answers I seek.

So why not go back to jerking off into the tubes you use to make shocks? Or do I owe the honor of your presence here to inter-ejaculatory refraction?

This is a thread that belongs on special stage man, these degenerate old men don't want to answer questions that don't have to do with running cars that barely run. hahaha John will beat your ass but he's a good guy.
