Yep...just like thousands of mid 90s cages did good. And tens of thousands of early 90s spec worked fine... The current bizzare, weird selective reading admittedly to cover the asses of RA private owners in some future imagined litigation is frankly really absurd . I've seen noobs in virtual stock cars with motors making max 90 IF throttle opened, crawling thru stages at average speed around 40 mph...with the current "idential to WRC cgae spec" cages in the little car... Atta boy John...of course we don't don't know from the video just how well the cage actually fared do we? AND it appears the cage would be accepted by RA at current events. Since CARS,RA and NRS all use very similar and overlapping specs what is your point sir?

No I don't know what your gripe is, whenever asked pointedly what the your gripe is you suddenly have nothing to say. Exactly which bar or element of article 253 cages do you think is ruining rally or at least your life and why? |

Been over it in word by word detail enough times..You're only a few months older than me...it cannot be age problems. Just to pretend I believe you are not trolling big-time I will remind you--and our poor long suffering readers who must tire of this BS: Art 253 section Design Une fois la structure de base définie, elle doit être complétée par des entretoise et renforts obligatoires (voir Article 253- 8.3.2.1), auxquelles peuvent être ajoutées des entretoises et renforts facultatifs (voir Article 253-8.3.2.2). Sauf explicitement autorisé et sauf si des connexions démontables sont utilisées c onformément à l'Article 253- 8.3.2.4, toutes les entretoises et renforts tubulaires doivent être monopièces. ............................................Once the basic structure is defined, it must be completed with compulsory members and reinforcements (see Article 253-8.3.2.1), to which optional members and reinforcements may be added (see Article 253-8.3.2.2). Unless explicitly permitted and unless dismountable joints are used in compliance with Article 253-8.3.2.4, all members and tubular reinforcements must be single pieces. Cars homologated-----> before 01.01.2002<-------- : The cage must have one of the diagonal members defined by Drawings 253-4, 253-5, 253-6. The orientation of the diagonal may be reversed. In the case of Drawing 253-6, the distance between the two mountings on the bodyshell/chassis must not be greater than 300mm. Members must be straight and may be removable. The upper end of the diagonal must join the main rollbar no further than 100 mm from its junction with the backstay, or the backstay no more than 100 mm from its junction with the main rollbar (see Drawing 253-52 for the measurement). The lower end of the diagonal must join the main rollbar or the backstay no further than 100 mm from the mounting foot (except for the case of Drawing 253-6). The willful and consistent pretending to follow FIA while ignoring clear written rules...rules that many noobs are frustrated by, which many people see as the prime empediment to entering the sport, which many people know that a cage built to art 253 taking into account the "for cars homologated before 2002" are excellent and safe.. That--the pretneding---is the problem.. The snide answer "we choose to not read it that way" is ludicrous. No, and its interesting that despite trying to make the point as clear as possible---and to a large number of people the problem IS clear, Gene pretends he has never heard of the complaints---and you don't see the problem.. I'm upset that since sometime around way back then, perhaps earlier, that first SCCA, then Rally America, eventually CARS first have tech guys who are only tech-nerds....guys that don't DO things, and on top of that, as it went, guys who are either a) just too stupid and only semi-literate OR b) cynical as fuck and pretending to be stupid (I really can't see how this could NOT be clearer)(Have you not looked at FIA Art.253?) FIA says: First you make the main hoop and the forward parts---the MAIN PARTs...and they define that and describe that--2 fucking languages in there's any unclarity then check the other... THEN "For cars first Homologated on...blah blah 2002, THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS are required;" This means for many people---more out here where we are smart enough not to destroy our infrastructure and cars and lakes with tons of salt----and where we have large portions of the entries being cars FIRST HOMOLOGATED 2002 and EARLIER, that many people have had to pay significantly higher cost for the far more complex cages which RA, CARS, and NASA have come to claim the FIA rules "require".. And since for many--if not most---the high cost of the complex POST 2007 new cars type cage---is a central BAR TO ENTRY. Now for many, their personal relationship toward authority and their desires for belonging to "in" groups means they WANT to do whatever they are told...they are obedient and are themselves authoritarians. So they respond to rules reflexively, doing whatever they are told, ignoring and vilifying anything else. and ---lets say somebody foolishly points out like "well it states clearly that for your 1986 Corolla/1992 Volvo/1969 VW you don't need this and this and this and this..." then they get attacked and ridiculed, and trolled poorly by those who respond to anything questioning whatever authority says with shock and horror. No he is mad because he cant build a new car to old specs for cheap. Yet an old car is still legal and in his eyes good enough. He thinks a cheap cage will put more cars at rallies. In turn old cage rules will save rally!
I see his point yet I like the cage rules the way they are. The cage is about the cheapest part about a rally build. Even Jvab super bitchen suspenders cost more then a well built RA,Nasa and Cars cage. First rally 2013 Rally car type AWD subaru Total rallies as driver 6 Total rally cars built 2 Total rally cars caged 3 Total rally cars repaired from offs 4 Total years racing exp other then rally 19 yrs Like 31motorsports on FB! In many Metro areas the cost for a FIA Post 2007 style Full WRC spec cage is around $3500, and in some areas the cost is $4500.... I guess its time time to raise the cost of my suspension by a grand or 2. I don't really give a shit about building "new" cars...Somebody has money for a "newer" car then they have money enough to shut up and pay...they want to anyway... Of course newer cars are foolish from many perspectives....mainly related to cost and weight. But some people need to have something that looks like the latest thang...Image is everything... I linked to a place selling ready to weld in FIA spec cages---around $600. You can't get the material for that (and that is way higher than I paid for kits I imported between 1990 and 2004--waaaaaay higher) This who thing is a response to McColloughs barking reponse "That cage kit is not legal in any organisation grrrr growl grrrr!!!" missing the point that it is legal someplace with more experience higher intensity deep fields with many guys quicker/harder than anybody here Because somebody at Svenskabilsportförbundet can read either English or French and knows rudimentary simple logic...
