Costs differ greatly across the US so does the entry fees. After 3 years of working with both RA and NASA the bottom line is nickles and dimes from each other. RA may actually be a tad cheaper on C1 events also. As to late fees...when an organizer or group has to shell out huge road deposits, pay for route books or other expenses, they like to run on competitor money. Since we rarely make minimum wage when it's all over they offer an incentive to get the money in early. Personally some of the late fees seem chokingly high, but I'll bet they may be negotiable to some degree...NOTE : RALLY AMERICA DOES NOT SET LATE FEES EITHER !! |

But organizers are free to shift from one sanctioning body to another. At this time, I see at least 3. RichardM |

Say 20 mile tow, 30 or 35 buck entry and maybe 25-35 SS miles If'n you ever looked at a Swedish calender and saw all those 4-8 events per week most are MRY "mini-rally" or RS 'rally special'. Of course its crazy if its 200 miles away and it cost 300 bucks for 25 miles SS Hey Matt, I have a Supra LSD with your name on it that Ozgur says he can bring down (if I can git holt of the guy in Baltimore who is storing it). been meaning to do tthis so you save like 75 bucks on shipping. Something where I could load up and drive out on Friday after work, run Saturday (day or night, whichever) and get back to the grind on Monday, would be awesome. It doesn't exist *currently*. I don't have the gear yet, but *mark my words*, if there were C1 events in a reasonable radius, I'd work them until I became a competitor. I have friends here who'd do it, too, if they couldn't snag rides themselves. (The safety thing is a non issue... I gotta have that stuff for some pavement crap going on this summer. Rally'd be a good enough excuse to get my money's worth from it all!) PS - Now I'm worried about drive-bys from Priuses. $90 for 25 stage miles locally? That's a slam dunk baby - as a matter of fact TOR will be quite more than $ than that, its only a 2.5hr tow, probably not more than 40 stage miles.
But yeah, that will be the only RA event I'll be doing in the forseable future. |
