No, comment all you want. You and I started off with some what you thought was bad blood, but you have some (SOME! don't get too haughty!) brains and you can see INTENT in what I'm trying to do here and in my business and that is pretty simple: GROW RALLY by making GOOD SHIT MORE AFFORDABLE so guys don't go bankrupt and drop out. Our RETENTION rate of existing customers is shit in this sport and any person smarter than a pile of steaming horseshit knows that retain customers is easier and better than recruiting new. That's why I push simple cars with good potential to progressively mod and build up---spreads the financial burden out and keeps the mind thinking about the car, and the sport and LOOKING FORWARD. > > Jon Burke - KI6LSW > RallyX Team Up TwoMountains > Team Blog: > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! John,
I am going to ask a very simple question here. Would you actively ban the people listed in the original message? I care for the clarification of it. I am going to ASSUME you and those people specifically named, not the SAAB forum people, don't see eye to eye on a number of rally related issues. As I stated in my original post for this thread, "I COULD GIVE A RAT'S ASS LESS ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S MUTUAL DISLIKE." Thanks and I appreciate your candor. Richard, You mention about my choice of rallies. Something to the effect of me not choosing "our" rallies. If you mean "our" in the sense of Rally America events, then I'll have you know Richard that I've worked every 100 Acre Wood save the 05' event since it was re-organized for the 02' Club Rally National Championship. In addition I've worked STPR 07' and Sno*Drift 08'. Thats a total of 9 R-A events that I've worked. I had fun at every single event. I've recently worked Rally TN, a NASA event, and had a great time there as well. That's a ratio of 9 to 1. Hmmm, seems I've made my choice. In addition I hold a R-A membership. Again, I've made my choice. As far as Rallye de Paris is concerned, I only last year started attending events out of town. Last year, I was in Kansas City for the MU/KU "Border War" football game. I will be attending that same game this year as well. So I've made a choice and it doesn't involve rallying. I also have a question for you Richard. Please answer me this; Why do you feel the need to direct your energies towards this animosity you and John share? Again, just to clarify the point, because again, "I COULD GIVE A RAT'S ASS LESS ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S MUTUAL DISLIKE." Thanks as well, for your candor. Finally, just so there is no ambiguity, no grey area, no anyone wondering who I am on Special Stage, I post over there as Winterborn. I know a "cute" name, but if you listen to the Cruxshadows, you'll get the reference. I'd change it, if I could to either my real name or to Vorpal Rally, alas, that's probably not possible. not seeing how "winterborn" even if we don't get the reference is "cute"
now, "winterdarling" or "winterbaby" or "winterwonderland" I'd see as cute now mine, it's the same both places and it probably is cute, but I use it everywhere and have for many years and lord help me if I had to think up something else that wasn't already handy on my license plates |

Required Information We hate cutesy account names like "FastDriver" or "WRCbound" or "PlumSmuggler" or whatever, but people get attached to their favourite account names. However we want to know who you actually are, so you must have the following information in your Member Profile: 1. Full (Real) Name 2. City and State/Province 3. Car(s) you rally (we don't give a rat's ass about your street/track cars) 4. Year of birth So, I went with Winterborn on SS, and decided to try something new over here. And my mailing address is O'Fallon MO,but I live outside the city limits, hence my St Charles County residence. I live in a fantasy world, but I know they wouldn't accept that even if it is the truth, so I listed where my cat lives. And besides, what's so wrong with cute? Some of us who will never be looked at as cute should you see us in person need a little bit of cute in our lives somewhere. |

Lee, I do not ever recall using the term "our rally" in regard to any event except Rallye de Paris. That is a rally organized and run by Armadillo Rally Logistics which is a group in the Dallas area not affiliated with the SCCA in any way. Rdp was sanctioned by SCCA and now by Rally America. I have discussed NRS with John Shirley. That is our rally, not events sanctioned by any one. I hope that is clear that I do not claim ownership of any other event. As to NRS events, I would run events sanctioned by NRS if I could. Most are too far away though. I should have run Rally TN. And in fact, Anders asked if I would work with him at that event. Unfortunately we already had plans to be out of town that weekend. Next year I hope to be there. I try not to let my dislike of John affect my postings. I do not call him names. I do not use profanity towards him. I have not liked John since I first met him many years ago at POR as it was then known. My wife and I flew to Houghton to watch the rally. While there, we heard a SAAB driver needed a crew. That was John. So we gave up spectating and drove his service truck. John was most unpleasent from the very first. I almost followed the suggestion of Tom Grimshaw (look him up) and locked John's truck up in service with the keys on top of a tire. But I could not do that to even John. But today, I object to John and others attacking primarialy Rally America claiming that rules are made because of some outrageous reason and that all rally in America is terrible. And many other things simply not supported by facts. As an example, feel free to say that you will not come to Rallye de Paris because I am a terrible rally master and lay out a boring course. Do not say that Rally America courses are all terrible because of stupid safety rules. Hopefully you have noticed that I never disagree with John on technical points of car design. He seems to know something about that. I like his suggestion to start with a strong chassis that can be modified over time to become faster and better handling. I do not like his abusing any one who disagrees with him in any way. I suppose I could ignore John as many do. It might keep my blood pressure lower. Richard A minor correct, POR had already become LSPR when John finished 8th. But Mike Hurst was ahead of him. RichardM Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/04/2008 06:06PM by Richard Miller. |
